Field Communication Officer
Doctors Without Borders (MSF) is an independent humanitarian medical aid organization committed to two objectives: providing medical aid whenever needed, regardless of race, religion, politics or gender, and raising awareness of the plight of the people who helps. MSF is working in more than 70 countries all around the world.
MSF –Spain is carrying out a psychological support program with medical and social component. The aim is to provide short-term psychotherapy to people affected by violence due to the ongoing conflict.
MSF-Spain is currently seeking to hire a part-time Field Communication Officer in Jerusalem, with frequent movements to the rest of West Bank. This position is starting in the beginning of August 2015.
Main activities:
-Responsible for MSF operational communication at field level.
-Build MSF visibility, acceptance and leverage inside the country.
-Implement the communication strategy at field level under the supervision of the Head of mission and with the support of the Communication Advisor in Barcelona.
Requirements:
-Degree in Journalism, Communications, Humanitarian affairs, or related university degree.
-Previous working experience in communications, journalism or public relations.
-Skills in social media use and good knowledge of “traditional” media environment.
-Arabic and English essential (both written and spoken). Hebrew desirable.
-Essential computer literacy (word, excel, PowerPoint and internet).
-Essential to have local knowledge and awareness on media and social media.
Additional qualities desired:
-Working experience in producing communications content production (articles, press release)
-Previous experience with MSF or other NGOs in developing countries.
-Experience with organizations working in Mental Health.
-Experience working in analysis of context (focus in actors) in Palestine.
