Field Program Officer
Job Title: Field Program Officer (70%, 28 hours weekly)
Duty station: Gaza Strip, oPt (preferably South or Middle Gaza)
Organization: Frieda – the Feminist Peace Organization (former cfd)
Starting date: preferably by 15.09.2024
Duration: 12 months, with prolongation
Salary range: Depending on qualification and experience and according to internal salary scale between 94’500 and 98’000 ILS yearly
working hours/week: 28 hrs
Infrastructure: Home-based assignment

Frieda is a feminist peace organisation active in international cooperation, both humanitarian and development cooperation, as well as migration and peace politics in Switzerland. Frieda is a non-governmental organisation based in Switzerland, independent of political and religious affiliation and oriented towards a vision of a good life for every human being, regardless of gender, ethnic background and religion. Frieda has been working in Palestine and Gaza Strip since the 1970s. Applying a human rights-based approach, our main goal is to combat SGBV, promote economic empowerment and social and political inclusion. In Palestine, Frieda supports local women’s and civil society organizations in their holistic work for a gender-just and peaceful society. Given the war in the Gaza Strip, Frieda focuses on humanitarian support for women, children and their families, but keeping the longer-term perspective.
Position Summary
Under the supervision of the Frieda Programme Manager for the Middle East based in Switzerland, the Field Program Officer is responsible for the coordination of ongoing projects in the Gaza Strip. The role includes providing programmatic and technical support at field level to partner organizations, facilitating networking with relevant stakeholders, and representing Frieda in relevant coordination mechanisms. The coordinator ensures that all field activities align with Frieda's objectives and standards. The Field Program Officer will work independently from their home base and with field visits to partners whenever the Security situation allows.
Key Responsibilities
Coordinate with Frieda Programme Manager to ensure the following programme-related Tasks:
- Oversee project cycle management, review progress towards the proposed work plans, objectives, and results at project and program levels
- Support partner organizations in MEAL (monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning)
- Assist in monitoring financial information of partner organizations (financial reports, audits)
- If security allows, conduct regular field monitoring visits to project sites and partners
- Provide and plan capacity strengthening to partner organizations
- Create and nurture a trustful and encouraging relationship between Frieda and the partner organizations, based on Frieda’s partnership principles
- Provide timely support to partner organizations, especially in gender mainstreaming, risk analysis, conflict sensitivity and participatory project planning and monitoring methods.
- Facilitate learning spaces for reflection, knowledge sharing, and participatory monitoring among partner organizations.
- Assist in setting up studies such as gender analysis, evaluations, and mapping studies.
- Provide updates on contextual insights and emerging risks
- Support the risk and security management of Frieda
Communication, Administrative and Fundraising:
- Oversee visibility opportunities for Frieda in Gaza and provide inputs to the communication department upon request.
- Assist in communication tasks, such as collecting testimonials with partner organizations.
- Represent Frieda in relevant networks and coordination structures.
- Undertake other responsibilities and assignments given by Frieda, including responding to emerging humanitarian needs.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g.: social work, business administration, project management, social sciences or other related fields).
- Strong interest and experience working on gender transformative projects and against GBV
- At least 3 years of project management experience and budget oversight.
- Experience working with conflict affected populations including IDPs.
- Experience of working with INGOs, NGOs in humanitarian or development sector.
- Experience in applying participatory processes with partner organization and groups.
- Experience in facilitation and conducting trainings.
- Fluent English/Arabic skills, strong communication skills and proactive communication.
- Good computer skills (Excel, Office, Power Point, Sharepoint).
- Strong reliability and ability to self-organize the work, proactive communication, good organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to meet competing deadlines.
- Ability to demonstrate clear analytical thinking and problem-solving.
