Position: Field Supervisor
Location: Ramallah Base
Starting date: 18 March 2012
Contract period: 6 months

BACKGROUND

ACTED (Agency for Technical Cooperation and Development) is an international NGO registered in France. ACTED’s vocation is to support vulnerable populations affected by wars, natural disasters and/or economic and social crises, and to accompany them in building a better future. ACTED started its activities in the occupied Palestinian territory in May 2007, through food security interventions in the West Bank and then in Gaza. ACTED is currently implementing projects funded by the Humanitarian Response Fund and the French Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs Crisis Centre that aim to protect vulnerable households in the West Bank, as well as an EU-funded project that seeks to strengthen rural cooperatives in Salfit and Qalqilya governorates.


GENERAL RESPONSABILITIES

Under the supervision of the Project Manager, the Field Supervisor is in charge of coordination project implementation on the ground, and collect and analyse field information to be used by the Programme Development and AME (Appraisal, Monitoring & Evaluation) departments.

KEY TASKS
-Coordinate the daily project implementation of the project in the field
-Draft weekly reports of activity implementation
-Conduct monitoring rounds and collect data from project beneficiaries
-Undertake frequent travel to field locations in Salfit and Qalqilya governorates
-Keep an up-to-date filing system of project documents sorted by location
-Verify the accuracy and relevance of data collected in the field
-Regularly monitor the progress of beneficiary cooperatives
-Promote better farming and livestock practices among rural cooperatives
-Encourage exchanges between rural cooperatives and the Agricultural Cooperative Union
-Conduct surveys and oversee training sessions upon request
-Perform other tasks, as requested by Project Manager
-Comply fully with ACTED standards and principles

REQUIRED SKILLS

-A university degree in Sociology, Community development, or related field
-Three years experience in field work; experience in the agricultural sector is preferable
-Previous work experience with NGOs in the field is an advantage
-Previous experience working with the cooperative sector is an advantage
-Professional attitude and ability to work in a team
-Excellent social and communication skills
-Accurate, reliable, open-minded, and a positive attitude
-Highly organized, able to prioritize and meet deadlines effectively, and ability to work under pressure
-Willingness to improve skills and knowledge
-Capable in planning and problem solving
-Fluent in Arabic and English, spoken and written
-Good IT skills, including spreadsheet applications
-Valid driving license and comfortable with frequent travel in the West Bank
