medico international (medico) is an international non-governmental organization which struggles for the human right to the best possible access to good health. In doing so we support local partners in their endeavors to create the economic, social and cultural conditions which allow each person to attain the highest health standard possible. In particular medico stands by those who are in situations of emergency and in poverty, including refugees and the victims of war.
medico seeks a dynamic, reliable and qualified part time Financial and Administrative Assistant (m/f) for one year in Ramallah office. The incumbent shall render support in the areas of finance, day to day control and maintenance activities, purchasing, and other administrative responsibilities.
Position: Finance and Admin Assistant
Supervisor: Finance Administrator Officer
Duty station: Ramallah
Working language: English
Type of position: 50%- (20 hours weekly)
Contract: One year
Main tasks and responsibilities
The successful candidate shall perform a variety of tasks including, but not limited to:
Assistance in Financial Functions:
Office accounting:
-Processes of payment requests and daily financial transactions to ensure an efficient financial flow process and timely payments for the goods and services required for the office day–to-day performance. (Such as salary tables, calculates income tax, market reviews/offers, and ensures timely payment of all services… etc). Prepares monthly expenditures reports of the office. Prepares monthly reconciliation of bank and cash book and documentation of exchange rate calculation.
-Verify the documents / paper work of vouchers based on the “Project Closing Financial Checklist” for each project
-Assist in preparing documents for external audit of projects
-Makes sure annual audited reports of partners are ready on time
Assistance in Administrative Functions:
-Assisting in organizing the general filing in the medico office Ramallah, including project files
-Photocopying of finance, and administrative packages
-Sending faxes
-Preparations of entry/exit permit requests for Gaza for national and international staff as well as any other permits, visas and applications within office and project work and prompt follow up with Israeli authorities
-Perform other relevant tasks as requested and needed
Qualifications/Skills required
-Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or other relevant discipline.
-At least two years of relevant experience in a NGO or INGO. Applications without this experience will not be considered!
-Experience in dealing with donor funding requirements.
-Ability to communicate across organizational boundaries and borders (Israel, West Bank and Gaza, Germany)
-Good communications and interpersonal skills
-Ability to work in a multicultural environment
-Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
-Ability to meet deadlines effectively, and work independently under minor supervision.
-Accuracy and attention to details, and excellent organizational skills.
-Proven computer skills, including experience using MS Office (Excel, and Word)
-Perfect command of written and spoken English & Arabic.
