We work year-round to establish healthcare, water and sanitation- WASH, education, and livelihood programmes that pave the way for empowered, self-serving communities. We also provide food, medical aid, and disaster relief during emergencies, a critical intervention that saves lives.

Job purpose

Facilitate the efficient and effective financial operation of Human Appeal office and ensure compliance with Human Appeal financial policies and procedures alongside donor policies, procedures, guidelines and rules.

Accounting & documenting

  • Implement the applied HA financial policies and procedures.
  • Maintain accurate archiving system for HA documents in hard & soft Copies. 
  • Prepare the required Check/Wire transfers for signatures after ensuring that the payments get the required approvals.
  • Prepare payment voucher and receipts voucher.
  •  Record the Financial transactions on the Accounting System.
  • Assist the Senior Finance Coordinator in control over the Fixed assets by updating the assets register.
  • Conduct Period Physical count for Human Appeal Fixed Assets.  

Cash

  • Prepare monthly Bank Reconciliation for Human Appeal Bank Accounts.
  • Follow up with banks regarding to human appeal payments.
  • Make the required deposits to HA bank accounts.
  • Review the supporting documents for petty Cash and conduct period cash count

Partners

  • Follow up with partners regarding to the Fund receipts and issuing the required receipts.
  • Assist the Senior Finance Coordinator in reviewing the financial reports submitted by partners and also the supporting documents.
  • Conduct Field Visits for Partners to review projects supporting documents, attendance in opening tenders and any other task required by Senior Finance Coordinator.

Payments

  • Maintain a functional payment schedule by ensuring contracts and invoices are paid according to the agreed terms of payment after getting the required approval.
  • Follow the required procedures related to accounting for employees income tax.

Experience and Technical Competencies

  • University Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years successful experience in the humanitarian and developmental fields ideally in NGOs. Experience with INGOs is an asset.
  • Professional level using MS Office Suite, especially MS Excel.
  • High proficiency in English
  • Advanced communication and interpersonal skills
