Finance Director
The Episcopal Diocese of Jerusalem (Anglican Church) seeks to serve the people of the Middle East through its parishes and institutions. Its 27 parishes faithfully serve communities located in 5 countries- Jordan, Lebanon, Israel, Palestine and Syria. With over 30 institutions located throughout the region, the Diocese provides a range of services from healthcare to schooling, helping some of the poorest and most marginalized in society. The Diocese is committed to working for peace and reconciliation in the region.
The Episcopal Diocese is currently recruiting for one of its institution the following position:-
Job Title: - Finance Director
Duty Station: - Jerusalem
The successful candidate will be:
-Responsible for preparing and maintaining the Annual Budget, annual financial report.
-Responsible for the submissions of periodic financial plans and reports to the General Director and the Board of Directors.
-Review all grant agreements with donors prior to finalization and ensure that financial liabilities and terms are acceptable to the organization, and accordingly advice signatories for signing of agreements.
-Review all projects’ proposals to ensure that real costs and all necessary overheads are allocated to project budgets when requested.
-Develop, monitor and maintain management information systems and procedures.
-Ensure adequate controls and monitoring of cash, bank accounts, procurement & accounts payable to achieve objectives and minimize the risk of fraud or misappropriation and mitigate the risks from corruption or insecurity.
-Review the reconciliations of all balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis and ensure timely completion.
-Advice the General Director on strategies and tools for budgetary controls especially if and when budgets are running at a deficit.
-Ensure systems related to logistics/procurement are well integrated into the accounting systems to capture all expense details on a monthly basis.
-Design and direct training initiatives, building capacity, to ensure finance staff are equipped to perform their roles and responsibilities with accuracy & professionalism and also to assist them in enforcing financial controls & making decisions based on financial reports
-Undertake any other duties and tasks requested by the line manager and that are within the scope of this position
REQUIRED EDUCATION, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field, and CPA accreditation
- Ten years accounting/finance experience in a non-profit organization and/or business, with at least five years in a leadership role
- Administration and management experience in a cross-cultural setting.
- Excellent communications skills; demonstrated ability to read, write and speak English and Hebrew fluently
- Working knowledge of accounting software packages and Microsoft Office.
- Must have problem solving capabilities and ability to work under pressure.
