Financial Services Advisor

ShoreBank International Ltd. (SBI) is a consulting firm that advises financial institutions and their
funders in emerging and transitional economies in small business, micro and housing finance. As
part of the USAID-funded Expanded and Sustained Access to Financial Services (ESAF) program,
SBI is working with several banks and microfinance institutions in the West Bank and Gaza. SBI is
looking for a Local Financial Services Advisor (FS Advisor) who will serve as a key regional staff
resource working directly with the ESAF team to complete the scheduled activities for Year 3 of the
project. Also the Local Advisor will work closely with the SBI VP and Head of the MENA region and other senior staff to advance SBI’s strategic business development objectives in the broader region.

This is a full-time position located in Ramallah (11 months).

Scope of Work:
-The FS Advisor will work closely with the SBI Financial Services Lead Advisor for USAID/ ESAF, related specifically to managing and providing technical assistance to local financial partnerships focused on banks downscaling, microfinance commercialization, technology and savings initiatives;
-Work closely with SBI Project Manager and Project Director to manage daily activities related to financial partners as well as to monitor progress on assigned financial partner work plans and the overall SBI financial services work plan. Troubleshoot obstacles and challenges, as necessary;
-Contribute to business development efforts by SBI for the broader MENA region.

Qualifications:
-Should have at least 5 years experience in the microfinance and SME lending sectors, Banking
Sector;
-Prior experience in relationship and/or project management;
-Technical experience in at least one of the following areas: Risk Management, Human Resource;
Internal Control; Product Design or Asset and Liability Management, Information Technology (mobile and branchless banking);
-University Degree, preferably in finance or business;
-Master’s Degree preferred;
-Fluent in both Arabic and English; written and spoken.
