Action Against Hunger is a humanitarian, non-governmental, non-political, non-denominational and non-profit making organisation working in the Palestinian Territory since 2002. 
 
Action Against Hunger is recruiting for the Gaza strip a 

FSL Assistant Cross-Cutting

For 08 months.  

The FSL team manages a diverse portfolio of projects, including a community kitchen that currently serves over 2,000 meals daily, with plans to scale up to 6,000 meals. Our Cash and Markets team provides multipurpose cash assistance, helping families meet their immediate needs while reducing negative coping strategies that could otherwise divert resources from agricultural production. Our Business Support team works to enhance food production and processing by supporting income-generating activities (IGAs) and food processing units, as well as helping farmers who have had their agricultural assets destroyed. We collaborate closely with our Nutrition team to provide fresh food to pregnant and lactating women, as well as families facing severe malnutrition. 

The Food Security and Livelihoods (FSL) Assistant (Cross-Cutting) will support the FSL Officer in implementing food security and livelihoods activities across various thematic areas. Responsibilities include community mobilization, needs assessments, data collection, meal preparation support, and monitoring of food assistance programs for internally displaced persons (IDPs) and vulnerable populations in Gaza City. The Assistant will ensure that all activities are conducted according to Action Against Hunger's standards and contribute to the well-being and resilience of the community. 

 Tasks and responsibilities: 

Objective 1: Support Implementation of FSL Activities 

  • Community Mobilization: 
  • Assist in mobilizing communities and informing them about program activities. 
  • Support the organization of meetings and information sessions with beneficiaries and stakeholders. 
  • Beneficiary Registration and Verification: 
  • Participate in the identification and registration of beneficiaries, ensuring adherence to targeting criteria. 
  • Assist in verifying beneficiary information and updating databases. 
  • Support to Hot Meals and Community Kitchens: 
  • Assist in organizing meal production activities, including ingredient preparation and cooking. 
  • Ensure kitchen cleanliness and adherence to health and safety standards. 
  • Support the distribution of meals within IDP camps and community centers. 
  • Fresh Food and Food Parcel Distribution: 
  • Support the coordination and distribution of fresh food baskets and food parcels to targeted beneficiaries. 
  • Assist in handling logistics, such as preparing distribution sites and managing beneficiary flow. 

 Objective 2: Monitoring and Data Collection 

  • Data Entry and MEAL Contributions: 
  • Collect data on beneficiary feedback, program outputs, and community needs. 
  • Assist in data entry tasks and ensure accuracy and confidentiality. 
  • Contribute to Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) processes. 
  • Monitoring of Input Usage: 
  • Monitor the use of distributed inputs (e.g., food items) to ensure they reach intended beneficiaries. 
  • Report any issues or irregularities to the FSL Officer. 

 Objective 3: Community Engagement and Feedback Mechanisms 

  • Beneficiary Communication: 
  • Address beneficiary inquiries and provide information about program services. 
  • Support the establishment of feedback mechanisms to capture community perceptions. 
  • Promotion of Nutritional Awareness: 
  • Assist in promoting the importance of nutritious and culturally appropriate meals. 
  • Support awareness campaigns targeting new mothers and families with children under 2 years old. 

 Objective 4: Administrative and Logistical Support 

  • Logistics Coordination: 
  • Assist in coordinating with logistics for the procurement and distribution of food items. 
  • Help prepare necessary documentation, such as beneficiary lists and distribution records. 
  • Administrative Tasks: 
  • Support the FSL Officer in administrative duties, including filing, record-keeping, and scheduling. 

 Objective 5: Flexibility and Cross-Cutting Support 

  • Support Across Programs: 
  • Provide assistance to various FSL activities as needed, demonstrating flexibility. 
  • Collaborate with different teams to ensure cohesive program delivery. 
  • Capacity Building: 
  • Participate in training sessions to enhance skills and knowledge. 
  • Share learning experiences with colleagues to promote team development. 
  • Gender and Protection Mainstreaming: 
  • Ensure that program activities are inclusive and sensitive to gender and protection considerations. 
  • Promote safe and dignified access to services for all beneficiaries. 
  • Adaptability: 
  • Be prepared to adjust tasks and responsibilities in response to changing needs and contexts.

متطلبات الوظيفة
  • Diploma or university degree in Social Sciences, Development Studies, Nutrition, or a related field.  
  • Basic understanding of food security and livelihoods concepts.  
  • Proficiency in data collection and entry.  
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.  
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team.  
  • Strong Organisational Skills & Attention to Detail  
  • Minimum 1-2 years of experience in humanitarian or development programs.  
  • Experience in food assistance, community mobilization, or livelihoods programs.  
  • Previous experience working with vulnerable communities.  
  • Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking Arabic  
  • Understanding of English is an asset.  
  • Microsoft Office 365, Basic Excel. 
  • National, Gaza (Middle Area or South).
