Fundraising and Resource Mobilization Consultants

About IREX:
IREX is an international non-profit organization providing thought leadership and innovative programs to promote positive lasting change globally. In the West Bank, IREX is implementing the Partnerships with Youth (PWY) program, which aims to provide Palestinian youth with increased opportunities to realize their potential to effectively contribute to social and economic development in their communities. The PWY program works to achieve this objective by creating sustainable hubs for youth innovation and learningcalled Youth Development Resource Centers (YDRCs).
About the YDRCs:
The YDRCs work to expand educational and leadership opportunities for Palestinian youth age 14-29 throughout the West Bank to develop their personal and technical skills, and to increase their engagement in their communities. The YDRCs offer training and other activities in areas such as leadership, media, ICT, employability, and sports and cultural activities.
Summary of Consulting Position:
IREX intends to hire five (5) long-term fundraising and resource mobilization (FRM) consultants for six-month, on-site assignments at the YDRCs in Hebron, Nablus, Jenin, Jericho, and Qalqilya. Each FRM consultant will dedicate his/her time to raising funds and mobilizing resources for the assigned YDRC. The FRM consultants will utilize innovative fundraising methodologies and techniques that will help the YDRC to identify new Palestinian sources of funding and in-kind contributions needed for long-term sustainability. Additionally, the FRM consultants will focus on establishing systems and tools that will allow the YDRCs to conduct regular and on-going fundraising events and activities that will attract private sector involvement and establish mutually beneficial partnerships that will enable the YDRCs sustain their youth development programs. The FRM consultantswill work closely with the YDRCs’ board members, executive directors and coordinators, as well as other staff to design and implement a plan for developing strategic partnerships and income-generating projects that will support the YDRCs’ general operating costs and the implementation of programming.
Specific duties include, but are not limited to the following:
- Design and implement a fundraising and resource mobilization plan. The plan will identify clear and measurable deliverables within a concrete timeframe.
- Establish contact with and maintain ongoing relationships with local private sector businesspersons, government officials, NGO representatives, and other community leaders to increase awareness of the YDRC’s functions and activities, and discuss funding needs.
- Plan for and implement a wide variety of fundraising and resource mobilization activities.
- Prepare standard presentations to communicate fundraising goals and need of the YDRC.
- Work in close cooperation with the YDRC director and staff to improve and develop communications materials for the YDRC such as brochures, website content, videos, and other items to promote, market, and advertise the YDRC during fundraising events.
- Identify local, regional, and international donors’ requests for applications/proposals and assist the YDRC board and staff on strategies for following up on these opportunities, and help facilitate the proposal development process by conducting brainstorming sessions, reviewing proposal drafts, and ensuring that proposals/applications meet all donor requirements.
- Attend community events, meetings, or conferences to promote YDRC goals and solicit donations or sponsorships.
- Develop and maintain media contact list.
- Guide the YDRC staff and interns on ways to maintain and regularly update the website and other social media platforms with information about the YDRC.
- Create and manage a donor database with updated profiles and fundraising activity of each existing and potential donor.
- Monitor fundraising progress and produce quality reports for internal and external parties on a monthly basis or as required.
- Undertake independent research to identify alternative resources for long-term sustainability of the YDRC.
- Develop other innovative ideas for effective fundraising and resource mobilization.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- University degree in NGO management, public relations, communications, marketing, business, or related field;
- Minimum of five years of experience in fundraising and resource mobilization;
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail;
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, in English and Arabic;
- Previous experience developing communications materials and presentations;
- Knowledge of local and international funding resources, understanding of how and where they operate, and familiarity with relevant legislation related to fundraising; and
- Commitment to positive youth development and to providing opportunities for youth to enhance their interests, skills, and abilities, and to engage productively within their communities.
As the FRM consultants will work full-time on-site at the YDRCs in Hebron, Nablus, Jenin, Jericho, and Qalqilya, it is preferable for the consultants to be from the same district in which the YDRCs are located.
