Background
The project "Building Resilience: Empowering Women and Girls in Conflict-Affected Areas in the West Bank" aims to provide comprehensive support to adolescent girls, boys, and community members through psychosocial support and awareness activities. This initiative is designed to foster resilience, promote gender equality, and address gender-based violence (GBV) in conflict-affected areas.
About PWWSD
The Palestinian Working Women Society for Development (PWWSD) is a feminist, non-governmental organization that seeks to achieve gender equality and combat all forms of discrimination and gender-based violence. PWWSD is committed to facilitating women's access to justice and contributing to the development process through providing psychological, social, and legal support to women. The organization works to empower women, encouraging their participation in the political, economic, and social fields, as well as their role in the national struggle to end the occupation. PWWSD’s mission is deeply rooted in promoting the rights and well-being of women and girls in Palestine, especially those in conflict-affected areas.
Objectives
The Gender Equality and GBV Focal Point will be responsible for:
- Promote gender equality and addressing GBV through targeted interventions and awareness activities
- Technical oversight of the girl-friendly spaces and close coordination with MHPSS counselors and any external experts.
- Conduct GBV risk mitigation sessions based on IASC and GBV SC guidelines
- Ensure the integration of gender perspectives in all project activities.
- Conduct training and capacity-building sessions on gender equality and GBV (staff, communities including women, men, girls and boys).
- Providing support and guidance to project staff and community members on gender-related issues.
- Assist in monitoring and evaluating the impact of gender and GBV-related activities.
- Support the development of IEC materials to raise awareness about gender equality and GBV.
- Lead consultations with adolescents in developing a program for girl-friendly spaces
Scope of Work
The Gender Equality and GBV Focal Point will:
- Promote Gender Equality: Develop and implement strategies to promote gender equality within the project and the broader community. This includes creating gender-sensitive policies and practices and advocating for women’s and girls’ rights.
- Address GBV: Design and lead initiatives to prevent and respond to GBV, including awareness GBV risk mitigation sessions community outreach, and support services for survivors.
- Integration of Gender Perspectives: Ensure that gender considerations are integrated into all project activities, from planning and implementation to monitoring and evaluation. This includes conducting gender analysis and developing gender-sensitive indicators.
- Training and Capacity Building: Conduct training sessions for project staff, community leaders, and other stakeholders on gender equality and GBV. Provide ongoing support and capacity-building to ensure the effective implementation of gender-sensitive approaches.
- Support and Guidance: Offer technical assistance and guidance to project staff and community members on gender-related issues. This includes providing resources, advice, and support to address specific gender concerns.
- Monitoring and Evaluation: Develop and implement a monitoring and evaluation framework to assess the impact of gender and GBV-related activities. Prepare regular reports on progress, challenges, and recommendations for improvement.
Deliverables
- Monthly reports on gender and GBV activities, including the number of participants, topics covered, and outcomes achieved.
- Training materials and resources on gender equality and GBV.
- Pre- and post-assessment reports to measure the impact of gender and GBV interventions on participants.
- A final comprehensive report detailing all gender and GBV-related activities, achievements, challenges, and recommendations for future interventions.

- A degree in gender studies, social work, human rights, or a related field.
- At least 3 years of experience in promoting gender equality and addressing GBV, preferably in conflict-affected areas.
- Strong understanding of gender issues and experience in conducting gender-focused training and awareness sessions.
- Excellent communication and facilitation skills.
- Fluency in Arabic and English.
