Job Posting: General Manager – Baladi Supermarket
Location: Beit Hanina
Position Type: Full-time

Baladi Supermarket is a well-established retail chain committed to delivering high-quality products and exceptional customer service to our community. We are looking for an experienced and highly skilled General Manager to oversee the daily operations of the supermarket, manage a large team, and ensure the efficient functioning of all departments. This role requires someone familiar with Israeli laws and accounting regulations, especially in relation to retail operations and labour practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operations Management: Supervise daily operations to ensure smooth functioning, high customer satisfaction, and effective stock management. Ensure compliance with Israeli retail laws and regulations.
  • Inventory Management: Oversee inventory levels, conduct regular stock audits, manage the ordering process, and minimize wastage while adhering to accounting standards and inventory control regulations in Israel.
  • Vendor Relations: Negotiate with vendors to secure competitive prices and ensure timely deliveries. Familiarity with Israeli commercial laws and import regulations is essential.
  • Budgeting & Financial Oversight: Manage budgets, track financial performance, and prepare regular financial reports. Ensure compliance with Israeli accounting standards and taxation laws. Control costs and maximize profitability.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and manage a team of over 120 employees, fostering a positive work environment and ensuring high levels of performance and motivation. Ensure compliance with Israeli labour laws, including wage regulations, employee rights, and health and safety standards.
  • Customer Experience: Ensure that customers receive outstanding service and address their concerns promptly. Implement policies and practices to enhance customer satisfaction.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with Israeli health and safety regulations, labour laws, and other legal requirements. Stay informed about local laws affecting retail operations and employment.
  • Strategic Planning: Develop strategies for sales growth, customer retention, and operational improvements, in line with market trends and Israeli retail industry regulations.
  • Reporting & Communication: Regularly report on key metrics and communicate effectively with upper management, staff, and vendors. Ensure financial and operational reports align with Israeli accounting regulations.

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience: At least 10 years of experience in supermarket or retail management, with a minimum of 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Language Skills: Fluency in both Hebrew and Arabic (written and spoken).
  • Leadership: Proven ability to manage large teams, motivate staff, and drive business performance.
  • Financial Acumen: Strong understanding of budgeting, financial reporting, and cost management. Familiarity with Israeli accounting standards and taxation regulations is essential.
  • Vendor Management: Experience in negotiating competitive pricing and managing vendor relationships in compliance with Israeli commercial laws.
  • Problem Solving: Ability to resolve operational issues and challenges effectively, with a deep understanding of Israeli laws related to retail operations.
  • Availability: Must be available to work on weekends and public holidays as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in managing high-volume supermarkets or retail operations in Israel.
  • Familiarity with inventory management software and point-of-sale (POS) systems.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Understanding of Israeli laws concerning consumer protection, employee rights, and commercial transactions.
