Chemonics International seeks an expereinced Grants Assistant, to work in USAID-funded Building Regional Economic Bridges (BREB) activity.  

We are looking for a dynamic individual with a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world. 

The Grants Assistant is responsible for supporting the BREB grants team.  The Grants Assistant will work close with and assist the grants team in performing evaluations and assessments of potential grantees, monitoring financial and operational implementation, and ensuring close-out is done in accordance with all Chemonics and USAID rules and regulations.

Specific Functions and Responsibilities of the Grants Assistant:

  • Ensure proper screening for applications received under Notice of Funding Opportunities (NOFOs) or Expression of Interests (EOIs).
  • Note-taking and drafting meeting as needed.
  • Arrange Grants meetings as needed.
  • Assist in the evaluation and merit review committee process for potential grantees.
  • Assist in pre-award assessment including reviewing applicant’s legal document, financial statements, relevant certifications and ensure pre-award documents are complete.
  • Assist in reviewing grant payments.
  • Assist in documentation related to closeout of grants.
  • Assist in updating the CRM.
  • Keep complete files of all documentation generated with each grantee, including applications, contracts and deliverables, communications (posters, press releases, media documents), documentation of emails, memos, brief records of all phone conversations.
  • Promote the highest levels of honesty, integrity, openness, and transparency in administering grants and subcontract award processes and procedures.

Basic qualifications include:

  • Minimum 1-3 years’ experience providing administrative, finance, and other logistical support.
  • Diploma/bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Office management or another related field.
  • Knowledge of USAID or other international donor experience preferred.
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail
  • Ability to adhere to deadlines.
  • Advanced computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Proven ability to operate in a multi-cultural environment and to interact positively with a wide range of stakeholders within an international context.
  • Excellent/fluent written and spoken English and Arabic
  • Previous experience working in the development sector, particularly on projects funded by organizations like USAID, would be advantageous. Familiarity with donor requirements, compliance standards, and reporting frameworks is beneficial.
