Guidance Counselor
- Serve as a first line resource for connecting students to crucial community services and professional support. The Guidance Counselor will not provide psychological or psychiatric services, rather, they will be tasked with listening to student concerns and referring them to the appropriate services.
- Develop a vetted database of community resources and services for students in crisis, each with a contact person. The Guidance Counselor will be responsible for vetting community resources and services via calls and site visits, according to a vetting protocol that will be developed in conjunction with the Guidance Counselor's supervisor, the AQB Dean.
- The Guidance Counselor will coordinate 2-3 student group activities and one faculty workshop per semester. The Counselor will work with relevant staff at AQB and students to develop group activities that address the students’ needs. Likewise, the faculty workshop should also be developed in consultation with faculty and every effort made to offer workshops/activities that are informed by concrete assessment of AQB community needs.
- The Guidance Counselor is expected to make every effort to get to know students and faculty. This can include visiting classrooms to introduce themselves and their role, attending student-organized events and activities, and generally working to gain student trust and understand the college culture.

Qualifications
We seek a staff member who is eager to join a team in support of AQB’s mission to serve Palestinian youth, many of whom come from marginalized and underserved communities — someone who will creatively and intellectually address the needs of the AQB student community by building a database of available resources and tools, and by connecting students in need to relevant services.
MA degree in relevant field required
Successful experience in relevant area, preferably in student or youth support services
Enthusiasm for the mission of the College and to foster AQB community
Knowledge of broader field of mental health services in the Palestinian community
Fluent in English and Arabic
