Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP) is a leading UK charity dedicated to improving the health and dignity of Palestinians affected by conflict, occupation, and displacement. With a focus on the occupied Palestinian territory and Palestinian refugee camps in Lebanon, we provide vital health and medical care to those in need, particularly in crisis zones like Gaza. As part of our commitment to meeting the growing needs of the communities we serve, we're expanding our team.

The role of Head of Global Safety Advisor is critical for establishing policies and standards that ensure the safety and security of staff members, volunteers, field facilities, and assets in aid delivery activities regionally. This role is responsible for supporting a collaborative culture with our local partners, ensuring their safety and security in delivering projects funded by MAP. The GSA will implement security protocols tailored to each project's context, providing direction and technical support in developing and maintaining field-specific security plans.

As a GSA, you will review security measures for our emergency medical teams and missions, advise on mission safety, and conduct pre-deployment and post-deployment briefings. Your responsibilities will include setting up security protocols, standard operating procedures, and enhancing MAP's overall safety and security capabilities through capacity building. By developing the skills and knowledge of our staff and volunteers, you will help them proactively manage safety and security risks. Additionally, you will liaise with other NGOs and UN safety and security personnel at a regional level, acting as the subject matter expert on all related matters and connecting traveling staff to local safety forums and contacts.

This deployable role requires occasional travel at short notice but will be predominantly based in one of our offices. You will serve as the primary focal point for safety and security, supporting the Programmes teams in managing operational safety across all activities. Developing and implementing travel management policies, security/risk assessments, and crisis management plans will be part of your duties. Applications from Arabic speakers will be prioritised.

Please note that the salary is offered based on experience and location and will be adjusted depending on the cost of labour for the country in which the candidate resides. Candidates must have the legal right to work in the country from which they are applying.
