Head of Programmes

The Arab Medical Union - Emergency and Relief Agency is an International NGO operating in the field of relief and development of the health sector in crisis situations and disaster areas. Its field office in Gaza announces the following vacancy.
Job Vacancy - (deadline 12th of April 2012 at 2:00 pm)


Title: Head of Programmes.
Reference: ( HP-02-2012) .
Duration: one year - renewable (full time).

Main Responsibilities:

The Supervision and overall management of programmes and projects in Gaza field office in a professional and efficient manner, providing strategic leadership and expertise to the Programmes division.  He will provide guidance on the strategic expansion of the programmes, identifying appropriate areas and sectors of intervention and preparing proposals for such interventions. The Head of Programmes will also build relationships with donors, other INGOs, government authorities and local NGOs. He will manage a team of project coordinators and will report to the Field Office Manager and also to the main office in Cairo.

Personal specification that a candidate should possess:

1-Bachelor degree, preferably in a medical related specialty, also a post-graduate degree in development, management, or related field is preferred.
2-Minimum of three years’ work experience with a NGO working in the health sector in Gaza.
3-Experience and knowledge of the health system in Gaza strip.
4-Experience of effective programme design and management.
5-Experience in projects planning, monitoring, evaluation & budgeting.
6-Knowledge of procedures and financial regulations applied in Gaza Strip.
7-Strong leadership, communication, interpersonal and technical skills.
8-Fluency in English (written & spoken).
9-The applicant must be a Palestinian nationality resident in Gaza Strip.
