Health Promotion Officer
Main Purpose
Implement Health Promotion/IEC (Information, Education, Communication) activities with patients and local population to raise their knowledge and skills on relevant medical topics.
Accountability
•Inform patients and communities about MSF and the services it provides.
•According to medical priorities, deliver information to the patients and community on specific health topics
•Implement activities of health education and awareness (sessions in schools, churches, community), under the indications and supervision of the HP Supervisor.
•Under the guide of HP Supervisor, assess the impact of activities (with questions, verifications and behaviors observations), and report problems, success and constraints to him/her.
•Collect all type of information related to specific health and living conditions of the population, in particular to identify the most vulnerable populations to target.
•Report to HP Supervisor: activities, problems met, strengths and constraints.
•Conduct regular health promotion sessions in MSF-supported health facilities (primary and secondary care), providing patients with relevant health information and integrating mental health topics into discussions ensuring a holistic approach to patient care.
•Collaborate with the medical team in secondary structures. Support and assist in managing patient flow in triage and waiting areas, ensuring patients receive timely information and support regarding their care.
•Actively engage with community members to understand their health needs and concerns, promoting a supportive environment. Identify gaps in services and advocate for resources or interventions to meet community health needs.
•Collaborating with the mental health team to plan and implement awareness campaigns and workshops, ensuring alignment with mental health strategies and community concerns.
•Participate in creation of any IEC-HP materials and tools needed for the activities of information, education, and communication. Supports in translation of materials and tools in Arabic, if needed.
•Collaborate in designing and implement the social media strategy to promote health education, MSF events, and community engagement initiatives.
•Maintain accurate records of health promotion activities, participant engagement (e.g. surveys), and outcomes, providing regular updates to the HP supervisor.
•Collect and analyze data related to health promotion activities.
•Respects at all times confidentiality of the information he/she might become aware of during the activities and ensures privacy when needed.
•Commitment to working within a diverse and transdisciplinary team and adapting to the unique challenges of the context.
•Attend MSF general and medical meetings to stay informed about project updates, share insights from the field, and engage with the rest of the team.
•Engage in mandatory training sessions (such as providing health messages) and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and integrate new knowledge into daily practice.
*Frequent travels between both project locations (Jenin and Tulkarem), will be required according to the needs. Additional tasks and responsibility can be requested, according to the evolution of the medical activities in the project.
