Health Worker – oPt033/Emergency Project (Full Time)

HelpAge International is a global network of not-for-profit organisations with a vision of a world where older people fulfill their potential to lead active, dignified, healthy and secure lives.
HelpAge International started working in the Gaza Strip in February 2009 following the December 2008 – January 2009 conflict. It is providing a developmental capacity building of non-state actors in addition to a humanitarian response for older people including provision of food, psychosocial support, livelihoods support and physical rehabilitation.
HelpAge International will continue its care for old people through the project “Capacity building and awareness raising to improve the wellbeing of vulnerable older people in the Gaza Strip, phase 2, 2014-2015”, Emergency Response Action

HelpAge seeks for one experienced committed professional for a full time post of “Health Worker under oPt033 and emergency project”

Reporting to: oPt033 Project Officer

Main responsibilities of the position:
-Assessing the needs of the older persons living in target areas
-Identify, train and support home care volunteers in their day to day activities.
-Prepare weekly plans for home care volunteers.
-Assist in establishing of and cooperation with local community groups in the targeted area
-Submit a list of mobility and other technical aids needed to the project officer.
-Perform basic and follow up assessment of the older people
-Instruct the older beneficiaries and their home carers on how to maintain self-care and monitoring the health status of the older beneficiaries.
-Participates in data gathering for midterm and end evaluation.
-Reports to the Project Officer;
-Produce/compile patient follow up reports and care plans. Reports will be submitted to Project Officer and filed in patient Data profile daily/weekly.

Duration of the contract: 8 months starting as of 01 November 2014 till 31 August 2015.
Main qualifications
-Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Health, or in  a relevant field
-Previous work experience in a relevant field preferably in the field of health education/promotion
-A minimum of 2 years of experience in monitoring and evaluation
-Has experience in house hold visiting, preferably with older people
-Professional level in both Arabic & English language skills.
-Experience in drafting and writing reports
-Ability to set up action plan and develop follows up tools for monitoring field work/plan.
-Proficiency in MS Office.
-Independent determined motivated and commended commitment.
-Excellent skills of communication, time management and conflict resolution.
-Ability to work under pressure and within a team.
-Has ability to move in all Gaza governorates (including buffer zone areas)
-Ability to start working immediately.


Desirable:
Knowledge and experience of aging and issues older people are facing
