WeWorld-GVC (WW-GVC) is an Italian independent organization born from the merge between GVC NGO (founded in Bologna in 1971) and WeWorld Foundation (founded in Milan in 1999), with the aim of increasing the impact of their development cooperation and humanitarian aid.
The project objective is to promote efficient and sustainable use of water to enhance resilience to water scarcity in the Gaza Strip.

Service Requirements:
The project involves supporting the establishment of the Non-Revenue Water (NRW) unit at the Khan Younis Municipality (KYM) through the provision of equipment as well as the provision of human resources and consultancy services by a local consulting firm.
Accordingly, WW-GVC is seeking to select one “Hydraulic Modeling Engineer” to work at the unit under the administrative and technical supervision of the KYM water department and WeWorld-GVC technical team. The engineers will be selected and contracted through “Service Contract” by WeWorld-GVC.
Tasks and Responsibilities
- Participate effectively in the implementation of efficiency assessment and mapping of the domestic water supply system for Khan Younis city and ensure completeness of outputs in terms of engineering design, tender documents (BOQ, cost estimation, etc.)
- Participate in conducting the process of analysis and design of the water distribution system (WDS) and District Metering areas (DMAs) in cooperation with local and international consultants.
- Cooperate with the local consulting firm in the implementation of the key activities of the project and provide the technical assistance and any information required to the experts of the Consulting Firm.
- Participate in supervision of the implementation of the upgrading of the water network by the local contractor including the time, cost, and quality control.
- Develop a hydraulic model of the water network components in Khan Younis City (Reservoirs, Wells, Pumps, Networks).
- To follow up the data loggers’ erection along with field data collection.
- Analyze and develop the water balance in Khan Younis (Commercial + Real losses, Meter errors, Database errors, Illegal connections)
- Participate in any tasks assigned to the staff member by the direct supervisor of the NRW unit.
- Prepare an achievement report each month demonstrating the main tasks implemented by the modeling water engineer within three days after the end of the month.
- Cooperate with KYM non-revenue Water Unit (KYM NRWU) and WW-GVC water engineer in preparing a progress report on a regular basis about the advancement in the project in each milestone.
- Conduct site visits for data acquisition and meet the network operators to get data needed for the project.

Minimum Qualifications:
- B.Sc. Degree in civil, hydraulic, or water engineering, Mechanical, Environmental, Mechatronics, or equivalent.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in the design of water distribution systems.
- Proficiency in water engineering and hydraulic analysis software (including GIS, AutoCAD, Epanet, WaterCAD or WaterGEMS, Pipe Flow Expert).
- Familiarity with water network monitoring technologies, and equipment (Data Logger, Ultrasonic flow meter, etc.)
- Previous experience in the non-revenue water sector and reduction of water losses would be a clear advantage
- Good command of written and spoken English.
- Valid driving license, with clear history.
- Residence in the Khan Younis municipality area will be preferable.
- Young graduates are strongly encouraged to apply for this position.
- If the applicant has any research or experiences in water modeling using the integration between ArcGIS and WaterGEMS, he can provide any written paper or samples of works
