Hygiene Promotion officer
For a period of 12 months
The Candidate will:
-Formulate, implement, and monitor the technical rationale for multiple awareness projects.
-Schedule activities according to the project’s development.
-Follow the project’s advancement by regular visits.
-Assess and update project needs (HR, financial, logistics).
-Managing volunteer community mobilizers in the field, and be responsible for recruiting, and training small teams of local staff volunteers (community mobilizers).
-Provide capacity building and institutional support for local partner agency and for project stakeholders by: developing training material and conduct training for community mobilizers, volunteers, teachers, students etc.
-Develop new approaches for behavioral change and identify hygiene messages.
-Organize information meetings and workshops with community members to develop their knowledge in terms of water quality and hygienic practices.
-Propose solutions or improvements for better performance of the project.
-Ensure, that all hygiene kits are distributed fairly to beneficiaries and, where possible, carry out post distribution monitoring to assess the effectiveness of the system through joint cooperation with logistics.
-Participate in writing the interim and final reports to donors.
-Participate in the design and implementation of Water, Sanitation and Hygiene promotion (WASH) assessments tools design, surveys or any other project identification study in collaboration and coordination with program manager and technical coordinator.
-Participate effectively in proposal writing.
-Participate in the design of WASH problem statements, concept papers and projects in collaboration and coordination with the Program Manager.
-Participate in information gathering from other NGOs, institutions, local authorities and other key actors.
-Raise the concept of advocacy into right to access, availability, acceptability and quality of the rights to WASH, health and food security.
-Provide communications input into programme proposals and donor reports in order to meet visibility requirements,
-Produce high quality written and multimedia materials like: blogs, case studies, situation reports, photographs, short films, CDs, Information Education and Communication materials (IEC) and videos across all programs.
-Develop social awareness through media initiatives; like theater shows, radio spots, radio programs all with specific messages to the audience.
-Interpret and apply operational and specialist information in a variety of formats from a variety of sources.
-Organize and plan for Action Against Hunger local events and campaigns like; closing days and official meetings.
-Share and give technical advice on ideas for visibility materials and related websites internally or externally with other partner NGOs.
-Support, promote and follow-up on the teamwork of the Action Against Hunger Gaza staff under his/her responsibility.
-Establish, lead and follow up on weekly planning (written and meetings) of the staff under his responsibility, in collaboration and coordination with the WASH Program Manager.
-Review and propose adjustment of the training plan for WASH staff members under his responsibility.
Profile of the Candidate:
-Bachelor’s and/or Masters Degree in Public health, Pharmaceutical science, Nursing, or related fields
-Hygiene promotion and behavior change projects design and implementation.
-3 years of experience in a same field.
-At least 2-years previous experience in local or INGOs.
-Ability to write donor reports and proposals in English.
-Experience in hygiene promotion, work with local communities, children and vulnerable people.
-Training and capacity building experience.
-Experienced in community mobilization and participation.
-Diplomatic and tactful, professional and transparent.
-Organized and self-actualizing.
-Able to understand and work in a complex political context such as Gaza.
-Culturally adaptable.
-Good Interpersonal and communication skills.
-Motivation and commitment to humanitarian work.
-Ability to work in a team context.
-Fluency in reading, writing and speaking Arabic and English.
-Fully proficient in MS-Office, Outlook and SKYPE.
