The ICRC in Gaza is looking for a candidate to fill in the following post:
Senior Water and Habitat Engineer
Place of employment : Gaza
Type of Contract : Unlimited
Starting Date : July 2010
Minimum Requirements of the Post
1. University degree (Engineering)
2. 6 years work experience in a similar field
3. Excellent written and spoken English is essential
4. Independent and self motivated
5. Good computer skills (MS Office, Autocad)
6. Cooperative with other ICRC departments and behave in an impartial way towards all interlocutors
7. Respecting confidentiality, Flexibility, diplomacy and Negotiation skills
8. Capable to translate documents and other lecture from Arabic to English and English to Arabic
9. Ability to present the ICRC and other activities while abiding by the principles of the movement, most importantly neutrality and impartiality.
Job description
1. Follow-up the evolution of the water and sanitation sector in the area and provide related potential impact analysis and advices, based on an updated self awareness on socio-political situation
2. Contribute to the continual assessment of the evolution of needs and response on the humanitarian sector in the water, sanitation, habitat and engineering field
3. Present a synthesis of a problem to a collaborator or interlocutor
4. Develop and up-date a price list of materials and equipments and share it for compilation within the department.
5. Co-ordinate the work with different project stakeholders such as CMWU, PWA etc..
6. Design/Review the design and bill of quantities of complex projects proposed to the ICRC
7. Ensure that projects are implemented in a timely manner according to instructions, drawings and technical specifications as per contractual agreements; Follow up material sampling and testing.
8. Participate to the opening of bids, to their technical and cost analysis, and to the selection of contractors
9. Prepare different necessary reports and maintain contacts with interlocutors/authorities at various level mainly independently
