ICT ASSISTANT
Under the overall guidance of the Senior IT Operations and Service Manager and delegated authority of the Head of Office, and the direct supervision of the Finance and Administrative Officer (AO), the ICT Assistant provides technical support, oversight and quality assurance to the country office, with a dotted line alignment reporting to headquarters. The ICT Assistant will provide technical support, in consultation with the Regional ICT Officer, to UNESCO programs in navigating the country’s technology landscape and identifying, assessing, and integrating technological solutions, standards, and tools that empower programs to make data-driven decisions, strengthen value chains and facilitate accurate, real-time information.
In close collaboration with the Bureau for Digital Business Solutions (DBS) and the regional ICT Officer, the National ICT Assistant ensures ICT-related needs are met in the national office. They will support management and operations of all ICT infrastructure, equipment and services for the office, ensure that ICT-delivered services and end-user needs are understood and met, and foresee ICT configuration changes. Activities are carried out according to established ICT standards and policies.
Provide user support and technical/functional specialist support to the office. Assist users in solving technical problems and investigating issues by confirming the validity of the problem and seeking known solutions related to these more complex issues. If a problem is new and/or they cannot determine a solution, they are responsible for raising this issue to DBS and/or Regional ICT support and/or local external service provider. Provide ICT support to teleconferences, videoconferences and key events
The ICT Assistant will implement the rollout of new functionalities, applications or services, systems upgrades and IT infrastructure changes under the coordination of DBS and the Regional ICT officer. Follow up on the installation of systems, network components and software. They will advise on best technical solutions to achieve required standards while considering local technical constraints. Propose actions for improving ICT services and reducing costs.
Perform needs assessment for new applications and modifications to existing ones, make sure the related policies are followed and that every ICT initiative. Prepare and draft ICT operational, technical, hardware, and software requirements and specifications for procurement and invitations to bid. Update and maintain the ICT equipment inventory (hardware and software details).
Identify and analyse training needs on ICT related areas for users, mainly on existing corporate applications and desktop tools, and organize the appropriate courses.
Liaise regularly with Host Organization or Institution's Information Technology Service to ensure efficient and reliable operations of the ICT infrastructure and proper implementation of Service Level Agreements. Represent UNESCO at ICT inter-agency meetings and groups at a country level.

- A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field is required
A minimum of three (3) years of experience in the field of information and communication -technologies, including helpdesk, maintenance of hardware and software, packages and applications.
- Integrity, reliability, and sense of commitment in the execution of duties.
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Very good communication skills, including the ability to draft clearly and concisely.
- Ability to meet tight deadlines, paying close attention to detail and quality of work.
Excellent knowledge of English and Arabic (written and oral).
