The Institute for Community Partnership is seeking candidate for the following position as part
of the project “Neighbourhood Corners in the Southern West Bank Program 2009-14”, funded by
the Australian Agency for International Development / Australian Government through ActionAid
Australia.
Position Title: Institutional Development Officer
Duration of Assignment: 12 months
Position Description:
The Institutional Development officer will be responsible for coaching the
Community Based Organizations (CBOs) and providing the required support for the CBOs to become independently capable of operating with a wide variety of services.
Location of Assignment: The Institutional Development officer will be based in Bethlehem, with extensive field work in the south of the West Bank.
Main tasks and responsibilities:
1-Deliver ongoing training and mentoring support to CBOs.
2-Conduct Strategic Planning with CBOs and to develop a Five Year Plan.
3-Conduct CBO Assessments and to develop CBO Capacity Development Plan.
4-Participate in Planning Sessions to develop CBO Annual Plans.
5-Design training and conduct awareness raising sessions with CBOs on equity and gender issues, the role of Board Members and skills required of a Board Member.
6-Work with CBOs to develop Position Descriptions for volunteers and develop a volunteer incentive
program to encourage volunteerism.
7-Facilitate CBOs to report regularly (quarterly) to constituents on progress, successes and problems on implementing their plans (through community notice boards, community feedback sessions/
meetings and annual reports).
8-Ensure that CBOs have by-laws established and monitor the adherence to by-laws including holding elections regularly.
9-Mentor CBOs to develop and implement a resource optimization strategy,
Minimum Requirements:
-University degree in Management, Administration and Finance, or any relevant major.
-At least 3 years experience working in the required field.
-Ability to travel extensively within the southern part of the West Bank.
-Excellent communication and team work skills, computer skills, and ability to work under pressure.
-Background in Community Based Organization management is a plus.
-Valid driving license
