International Advocacy Officer
Post: International Advocacy Officer.
Duty Station: Ramallah, West Bank- oPt.
Line Manager: Planning & Fundraising Unit Manager.
Duration of Employment: One year renewable.
Employer: Jerusalem Legal Aid & Human Rights Center- JLAC.
Job Description:
-Conducting continuous literature reviews, as to map and analyze relevant sector developments
(e.g. articles, reports, implementation of policy, etc.).
-Assisting in the formulation of advocacy strategies and there implementation.
-Accessing international mechanisms/platforms (i.e. UN Human Rights Council, EU,
etc.) and identifying opportunities there in raising key issues/ submitting relevant information.
-Undertaking research studies, position papers, and reports from and IHL standpoint (i.e. shadow repots, monitoring, statistics, etc.).
-Developing publications aimed at raising the profile of, and promoting selected issues (i.e. articles, informative leaflets/flyers, electronic bulletins/up-dates, etc.).
-Networking with relevant individuals and HR organizations (through; participation sector groups/clusters, membership in international networks, information exchange, developing a volunteer base, etc.).
-Organizing field tours/briefings for diplomatic missions and generating relevant informative materials/presentations.
-Networking with international media corporations (i.e. posting on relevant online portals/ sites) and supplying JLAC’s websites with clear, up-to-date information and relevant resources.
-Undertaking any other appropriate duties as may be required by the line manager, including translation.
Qualifications:
-Minimum B.A. in political science, human rights, democracy, international relations, international law.
-Minimum 3 years of proven experience in similar posts.
-Excellent communication skills in both Arabic and English.
-Excellent research skills, understanding of political situation and firm grasp of IHL.
-Ability to work under deadlines with good prioritization and time management skills
