Islamic Relief/ Country Representative

Islamic Relief is a humanitarian NGO operating in Palestine in the fields of emergency relief and long-term development. Islamic Relief announces the following vacancy for its office in Jerusalem.

 

Title: Country Representative

Location: Jerusalem
Duration: six months

-To act as Islamic Relief’s Representative in Israel and to manage and co-ordinate the effective and efficient implementation of Islamic Relief’s intervention in Israel
-To lead the process of securing Islamic Relief’s registration in Israel and set up the office and other necessary infrastructure in Israel
- To represent Islamic Relief to the Israeli authorities and other relevant diplomatic, UN, Institutional donors and INGO network to facilitate and support the humanitarian and development programme in the region.
- To carry out development work for the marginalised communities in Israel. This includes Project Development (design project proposal followed by assessment) Implementation, Monitoring, Reporting and Administration.
- To act as the principal point of reference for Islamic Relief in Israel to facilitate all possible support function for the humanitarian and development work in Palestine.
Candidates must posses the following competencies:
- Post graduate degree in international development, social science or relevant field.
- Experience of setting up office/ or humanitarian operation in the disaster affected areas,
- Development or emergency relief management experience.
- Professional experience in project management, including project design, implementation and evaluation, as well as impact assessment.
- Experience of proposal writing, grants management and managing budgets
- Experience in coordinating with Government and other institutions.
- Experience of planning, prioritising, implementing and meeting targets in a pressurised environment whilst producing efficient work with minimum support
- Experience of undertaking a multitude of tasks requiring a high degree of discretion, diplomacy, sensitivity and negotiating skills
-Experience of working independently and on own initiative
- The ability of living and working in arduous conditions
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Diplomacy and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and balance operational and strategic objectives and priorities
- IT literate (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
- Ability to supervise junior and senior staff members
