The Technical Cooperation project "Strengthening a Demand-Oriented Technical and Vocational Education and Training (DoTVET)” in the Palestinian Territories is one module in the German development programme “Sustainable economic development, employment promotion and education". DoTVET is commissioned by the German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and co-financed by the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (NORAD). The duration of the project is from February 2021 until January 2024.
The project aims at aligning vocational education and training more closely with the needs of the private sector and making it easier for young people to enter the labour market. In cooperation with TVET institutions, the private sector, TVET line ministries, the TVET commission and DoTVET continues to develop demand-oriented vocational education and training based on the needs of both companies and apprentices. It improves the employability of young people by working in three areas of activity: expanding cooperation with the private sector, directing education policy and expanding career advice and vocational guidance.
DoTVET programme has TVET ideas competition where tens of projects are being implemented with TVET and private sector institutions in all the Palestinian governorates in cooperation with the Local Employment and TVET Councils.
To support the GIZ DoTVET team we are looking for an intern:
“Internship – Junior communication Specialist”
Responsibilities and tasks include but are not limited to:
- Assists in coordination of all communication activities, deadlines, etc. and puts an overview of activities and presents this regularly at team meetings.
- Develops all kinds of PR and Communication products and presentations in line with GIZ corporate design.
- Supports the overall procurement process for PR services in line with GIZ’s rules and regulations, including developing the TORs, evaluation processes and conclusion of contracts.
- Assists with recording and documenting the results of all activities.
- Draws up media analyses, prepare press clipping for the project events- and participates in public events on issues directly connected with the project.
- Orders and distributes PR materials on the project as well as GIZ PR materials.
- Assists with planning, coordinating and documenting meetings, workshops, seminars and other project activities with a focus on technical aspects.
- Supports the development and translation (Arabic/English) of publications and invitation packages (press releases, promotional materials, invitation letters, agendas, needs assessment forms, participation, and evaluation forms, etc.)
- Represent the program in relevant PR and marketing working groups (internal and external)

Required qualifications, competences, and experience
- Bachelor Student in the third or fourth year of university or recently graduated in Business Administration, Engineering, Communications or any field relevant to the subject of the DoTVET programme.
- Fluency in English and Arabic (speaking, writing and reading), German is an advantage.
- Excellent computer skills (MS Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Teams; PDF creater, graphic design software)
- Creative, innovative, energetic, communication skills with a talent for compiling user-oriented attractive and meaningful visual and written products
- Fast learner, self-initiator, focused, creative, team-player, handles work under pressure well, and motivated.
- Attentive and dedicated, driven by high quality and promptness.
- Hands-on, pro-active and energetic with creative approaches.
- Flexibility of working times.
- Residing in Ramallah area is an advantage.
Assignment: Starting 01.03.2022, for six months.
