Junior Expert architect / urban designer

Background

The Junior Programme implemented by Enabel offers the opportunity for talented young people of various origin, gender and education backgrounds to contribute professionally to international solidarity projects. Through their experience they develop the competences to actively and sustainably engage in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals

The JE will support the implementation of Enable’s 2022-2026 Portfolio for Palestine, and specifically the Green Gaza and Green West Bank intervention which aims at 
Improving the conditions of the Palestinian ecosystem & their population by reducing the ecological footprint & greenhouse gas emission

Green Gaza & Green West Bank has three strategic results

    Green circular economy and entrepreneurship are supported in the selected value chains based on a market system approach
    Green cities in Palestine are promoted through resilient urban planning, green inclusive service and green building, considering, the needs of women & youth
   Green cities and entrepreneurship as well as green and decent jobs for women & youth are promoted 

Job description

:Under the supervision of the Intervention manager, the Junior expert will be requested to 

Produce cartography/diagrams/drawings that analyse green interventions in public spaces and building
Capitalize the learning of new green practices (climate change adaptation & mitigation), by conducting research of best practices relevant to the context of Palestine
Support the process of participatory design of public spaces and green services
Contribute to raising the awareness about climate change, through developing concise narrative and visual messages to stakeholders, focusing on women & youth 
Prepare presentations, and coordinate for technical/learning workshops 
Conduct field visits to monitor the implementation of green practices
Suggests and implements own initiative to make certain aspects of global citizenship known to the Palestinian public (podcast, video, action, event...)

Maps the social and the environmental dimensions of public spaces

links mapping and awareness materials with social media to engage youth and women 

Your profile

The Programme Junior is open to youngsters with no or little professional experience and accepts only young people aged 30 at most at the last day of the publication of the job offer

 BA degree in Architecture, Urban planning or a related field. Minimum of 6 months and up to maximum 2 years' experience in architecture, urban design
Experience in using drawing software mainly adobe illustrator, and adobe photoshop to produce cartographies, socio-spatial mapping

Experience in graphic design and infographic

This function is open to persons with the Palestinian nationality

    A salary package that comprises the monthly gross salary, in accordance with our salary scales   and benefits. The exact salary will be defined according to the relevant recognised experience for the function 

The Junior Experts work at least 1 and at most 2 years in a project of Enabel or of one of the Non-governmental Actors (NGA) that are affiliated with the Junior Programme
