Introduction
Dar al-Kalima University College of Arts & Culture has received a grant from the Quality Improvement Fund (QIF) - Education to Work Transition Project - Ministry of Education and Higher Education and funded by the World Bank for the project entitled: Portrait of Palestine. This project aims to empower young people and equip them with the needed skills and linkages that can help them, through getting employment, to have an active role and contribute to the variety and quality of the local media & film production and reflects a positive image of Palestine. The project focuses on networking with the private sector to sustain a continuous updating of the curriculum and infrastructure of the program and keep it current to the contemporary needs. Accordingly, Dar al-Kalima University College of Arts & Culture seeks the selection and hiring of a Market Assessment Consultant.
Assignment Objective
Dar al-Kalima University College of Arts & Culture is now considering the selection of a professional
and qualified expert consultant to be part of the consultation team, who will provide a comprehensive study about the competencies and skills needed by the local and regional market and private sector, and recommendations that will be taken in consideration for upgrading and developing the current curriculum of the Documentary Film Production program at Dar al-Kalima University College of Arts & Culture.
Main Tasks and Responsibilities
The Market Assessment Consultant will be responsible for the following tasks:
1-Create a survey plan and conduct a comprehensive study about the needed competencies and
skills by the local and regional market for media and film production, focus should be in Palestine
and Jordan.
2-Assess the current competencies and skills acquired by Documentary film program graduates
and students.
3-Design, implement and manage all needed activities to analyze and identify markets needs and
requirements, including but not limited to: focus group workshops, questioners, etc …
44. Actively contribute to organizing and attending a national workshop for one day, for graduates
and private sector working with audio visual production and media. This should help in clarifying
the qualifications of the graduates, their percentage of employment, the obstacles that they face
at the market, and what should be the qualification of a successful graduate in order to integrate
easily in the labor market after his/her graduation. Then, present findings of the study.
55. Conduct and Prepare a gap analysis report to identify the gap of competencies and skills acquired by the program students and those needed by the labor market in documentary film field.
Deliverables:
1-Final Comprehensive Report documenting the whole conducted study including but not limited
to: implemented activities, results, findings, recommendations, proposed actions, current needs
and lessons learnt.
2-A recommendation about the qualifications and intended learning outputs that every graduate
should require while studying in order to succeed in the labor market after graduation.
Essential Required Qualifications:
1-A Masters Degree from an accredited university in Media or any academic related field and a
degree or experience in film making.
2-At least 5 years experience in a higher education institution
3-Must have carried out at least two similar assignments.
4-A proficient knowledge in the field of film making and audio-visual production.
5-Excellent field work and data analysis skills.
6-Excellent communication and networking skills.
7-Excellent reporting and formal writing skills in both English and Arabic.
8-Excellent technical, interpersonal and administrative skills.
Contract Type: Lump Sum Contract.
