Laboratory Assistant

In response to the significant health needs in the Gaza Strip, CARE's Primary Health Care (PHC) facility in Deir Al-Balah is offering a range of health services, including primary, reproductive, and nutritional care. The CARE Health Team provides a comprehensive package of services, including disease management, diagnosis, and medication dispensation to beneficiaries of CARE PHC.

The Laboratory Assistant will work in the laboratory unit at CARE PHC in Deir Al-Balah. He or she will be responsible for conducting essential laboratory medical tests as requested by the medical team from CARE and its health partners. Additionally, the Laboratory Assistant will provide laboratory data for all medical investigations to the line manager and the relevant MEAL point on a regular basis when needed.

Responsibilities:

1. Be fully aware of how to use all the necessary essential laboratory equipment to provide the necessary essential laboratory investigations like complete blood count, blood chemistry, and other tests when applicable.
2. Maintain all the necessary documentation for all the data related to the laboratory services disaggregated by Gender, Age, and any other classifications as needed by the MEAL department based on the project details.
3. Organize equipment and materials for lab sessions.
4. Prepare and maintain documentation for the inventory of lab equipment, materials, and supplies.
5. Arrange purchase orders for lab materials and supplies, as well as managing the lab budget.
6. Prepare and maintain documentation of all lab protocols, procedures, and safety regulations.
7. Participate in technical and lab safety training as necessary.

Requirement:

1. Bachelor’s degree in biomedical sciences.
2. Familiarity with lab safety rules and standard operating procedures.
3. Ability to work collaboratively with other colleagues at the PHC as part of a team.
4. Strong computer skills and proficiency in English communication, along with good time management skills.
