Laboratory Technician
Children’s Relief Bethlehem is an international humanitarian, non-profit organization, with its headquarters in Switzerland. Caritas Baby Hospital, established in Bethlehem 60 years ago, is the pilot project of Children’s Relief Bethlehem. The Hospital has a wide range of activities: an 82-bed pediatric hospital with a full range of diagnostic facilities, an extensive pediatric outpatient clinic, a diversified social work sector, and an officially recognized nursing college for practical nurses. At present, the Hospital has the following three “on call” job vacancies:
Laboratory Technician
The candidate should have the following qualifications as a minimum:
1-Bachelor’s degree or higher in Medical Technology/Laboratory Science from an accredited University.
2-Valid permit from the Ministry of Health to work in a clinical laboratory.
3-Experience in working in a hospital clinical laboratory.
4-Very Good command of English language, reading, writing and speaking.
5-Capable of working upon request.
6-Resident of Bethlehem District.
7-Capable of working morning / afternoon and/or night shifts.
8-Capable of working in a team Some of the required Tasks:
-Draws blood for inpatients, outpatients, elderly, personnel and relatives during all shifts.
-Performs all the laboratory tests that are done in our laboratory and sends the results to the Wards and OPC.
-Cleans working place, machines and equipment before and after work, and does basic maintenance and calibration of equipment.
-Prepares quality control reagents needed for all tests and performs quality control before doing patient tests.
-Prepares the different types of media plates for the microbiology section.
-Prepares patient samples to send out to other labs for testing.
NATURE OF THE CONTRACTS FOR THE THREE VACANCIES:
The vacancies are open from May 2014 for a six-month period. Working shifts are Mornings (6:30am to 12:30pm) and/or Afternoons (12:30pm to 18:30pm). For the laboratory position the candidate will have night shifts as well. The nature of the positions is “on-call” (the staff member will work a weekly number of shifts according to need).
