The Norwegian Refugee Council seeks:

The NRC information, counselling and legal assistance (ICLA) programme focuses on providing legal assistance, particularly related to housing, land and property issues, for those displaced or facing displacement in East Jerusalem and the West Bank.
The ICLA programme requires a Legal Advisor to oversee the day-to-day legal casework and capacity building activities of the ICLA Programme in the West Bank, under the direct supervision of the Project Coordinator.
Primary Duties:
-Provide sound legal advice and analysis on the Israeli/Palestinian legal system and in particular, on rights to housing, land, property, access to land, freedom of movement and legal identity;
-Regularly meet with implementing partners to discuss case progress, the case database and legal strategies, and attend field visits;
-Attend court hearings, as required, and provide comprehensive updates;
-Assist in identifying cases of strategic importance and methods to approach cases and identify areas where further legal assistance may be required;
-Identify training and capacity building needs of partner NGOs and other relevant actors engaged in legal assistance and organize legal and protection training;
-Carry out other relevant duties as requested by supervisor.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
-Qualified Lawyer with at least 5 years experience practising law in Israel/OPT (preferably housing, land and property issues).
-Experience maintaining case files/case database and with legal trainings/ capacity building.
-Ability to work under pressure, independently and with limited supervision.
-Excellent command of English and Arabic both written and orally. Hebrew is also an advantage.
-Experience of working with IDPs/Refugees is an advantage.
-Previous experience of working with non-governmental organizations is an advantage.

Commencement: As soon as possible
Contract period: 6 months, with possible extension
Salary/benefits: According to NRC’s general directions pay commessurate with experience and benefits provided.
