Position: Legal Assistants/Interns
In the framework of the European Union Funded project “Technical assistance to support the High Judicial Council in Palestine”, Justice Coopération Internationale, mandated body of the French Ministry of Justice for development cooperation in the Justice/Rule of Law sector, is currently recruiting a Legal Assistants/Interns.
Position background and requirements
The Assistant will work under COMPONENT V: support to the HJC in the definition of optimum timelines (beneficiary of the action: the CAD and the PPMU).

Her/His specific work will be executed under the supervision of Key expert 4: Senior Expert in Optimum timelines and Case Backlog management and the Team Leader as well as the other members of the Technical Assistance Team.
The Assistant/Intern will provide support to follow up the implementation of the new time limit standards which was explicated to the Courts during a recent workshop organized by the High Judicial Council, in particular
Analyse cases, describe procedural steps and work processes, calculate the duration of each stage of these processes, number and causes of delayed cases, transfer gathered information on databases, assist the HJC IT department which itself provides assistance and information to the expert and the HJC Optimum Timeline Commission;
Help plan and organize conferences, seminars, workshops and training events, if needed;
-Research, draft, translate and review project documents, if needed;
-Monitor and record tasks and schedules; monitor deadlines.
-Implement any other activities related to the project, as required by the Key Expert 4 and/or Team Leader.
Qualifications and skills
University Degree in Law;
Good analytical, appraisal and planning skills;
Fully computer literate;
Excellent command of Arabic and English, both spoken and written;
General professional experience
Preferably 1 year of professional experience dealing with Justice related affairs in developed and/or developing countries;
Very good organisational, coordination and reporting skills;
Aptitude for teamwork and ability to communicate with partners at all levels;
Specific professional experience.
Good Knowledge of the Palestinian Legal system
Knowledge of the functioning of the HJC would be an asset
Previous experience in at least one EC- funded project would be an asset
