Legal Researcher
Execution departments were only established in the Palestinian family courts following a 2016 law by decree. Prior to that time, the implementation of decisions of the family courts was the responsibility of execution departments of the civil courts, and some 17,000 of these case files remain pending execution by the execution departments of the civil courts, creating significant hardship for women and children. The objective of the assignment is to provide relief to the parties to these cases, by (1) assessing the obstacles to the execution of these rulings of the family courts, including the challenges faced by both the civil court execution departments and the Judicial Police in executing these 17,000 judgments and judicial papers, and (2) developing a set of recommendations to overcome these challenges.
