Save the Children is currently recruiting the following positions for the Humanitarian & DRR unit.
The candidates will serve as member of the project management team and will have day-to-day management responsibility for all project’s activities in all project locations. S/he will provide management and technical support in developing and monitoring implementation plans that integrate the project’s activities, with special emphasis on mobilizing families and communities, and delivering training to build the capacity of local organizations and partners. S/he will ensure that project creates and maintains close relationships with relevant stakeholders, INGOs, NGOs, CBOs, Ministries and implementing partners.
Livelihoods and DRR Officer - Gaza - Ref: DRR/13/002
The Officer will be responsible for the implementation of two integrated national projects, including livelihoods, protection, health and DRR components. The Officer is responsible for monitoring and oversight of partner implementation to ensure the quality and effectiveness of program implementation through the effective support to the partner in accordance with grant proposals and guidelines as well as SC values and principles. The officer will be in charge of providing technical advice regarding livelihood and especially with regards to climate change adaptation.
Starting Date for all positions: ASAP
Contract duration: 3 years pending annual obligations and funds availability.
Qualification,Skills and Experinece required
-Relevant University degree.
-3 years of relevant experience in project implementation, DRR, humanitarian work, emergency response and preparedness, international relations.
-Demonstrated skills working with project implementation and results monitoring.
-Strong project narrative and financial reporting skills.
-Finance/budget management experience.
-Experience and ability to work with a wide range of people: children, youth, and adults.
-Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
-Ability to manage a complex and diverse workload and to work to tight deadlines.
-Ability to contribute to a small, proactive team, motivating staff and working collaboratively with colleagues and providing support and advice as necessary.
-Willingness and ability to dramatically change work practices and hours, and work with incoming surge teams, in the event of emergencies.
-A full appreciation of the value of co-operation, both internationally and within a team environment.
-Knowledge of local organizations in Palestine and capacity to develop strong coordination relationships
-Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) in English and Arabic.
-Understanding of Save the Children’s vision and mission and a commitment to its objectives.
-Computer literacy in Microsoft Office software including Word and Excel as well as email/internet.
-Valid driving license.
Desired:
-Prior experience working with Disaster Risk Reduction and/or Climate Change Adaptation.
-Prior emergency response experience and/or experience of emergency preparedness work.
-Experience and understanding of rights-based programming and approaches to development.
-Experience with communications and advocacy work a plus.
