Implementing organization: EducAid, in cooperation with El Amal Rehabilitation Society (Rafah City)
Contract Duration: until December 15th 2015 with possible extensions
Project Summary: The project “Improving Inclusive Education in Emergency and strengthening resilience for children and children with special needs in marginalized areas in South Gaza Strip” intends to improve the well-being and enhance the resilience of children (between 3 to 12 years old) in the most marginalized areas in the South of Gaza, paying particular attention to the most vulnerable children: children with special needs, children with learning difficulties or at risk of drop out and labor exploitation.
Duties & Responsibilities (Job Description)
Working closely with all the Team involved in the project (Education Coordinator, Educators, Teachers, Local partner), the local Coordinator will be responsible, under the supervision of the Project Manager of the coordination, preparation, implementation of the educational activities, training, according to the schedule defined by the project.
In addition, s/he will support the Education Coordinator in all the administrative procedures, required by the Donor as well as the fulfillment of administrative procedures required by local authorities (Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Finance, other local authorities).
In particular, the local coordinator will:
-define project management organization and processes (roles, procedures and decisional processes, operational processes, work methodologies) in the assigned area of responsibility;
-Coordinate and monitor, with the support of an engineer, the rehabilitation of KGs and ECs targeted in the project
-coordinate, in collaboration with the Educational team (5 educators), and the Teachers (10 person) the educational activities for children.
-Support the PM in the organization of the training session addressed to the educators involved
-participate in networking and coordination activities (i.e. thematic clusters, etc) involving different stakeholders such as local authorities (Ministry of Education, community representatives, etc), school directors and teachers, civil society representatives
-elaborate, manage and monitor general and monthly planning of project activities, as well as relative economic and financial planning on the basis of available donor funds;
-manage procurement of goods, work and services essential to the project;
-be responsible for accurate assigned project activities administration and to supervise preparation of accounting documents for intermediate and final financial reports required by donors;
-be the focal point and responsible for the implementation of MEAL procedure for the monitoring of the project activities
-translate and/or prepare the reports on project implementation to be presented to the donor/other partners, and the monthly project activity reports
-Train the local staff according to the main guidelines of the Organization and under the supervision of the PM.
-Maintain a high level of collaboration and coordination with all the EducAid staff and local staff.
-Monthly reports in English are required. Possibility of reporting in Arabic according to request of local authorities.
Requirements
Education/Experience
-A minimum of 3 years work experience in the field of education or psychosocial projects.
-Previous experience in the implementation of psychosocial activities for children (aged 3-12)
-Previous experience in budget administration and tender procedures would be an asset.
-A Bachelor’s Degree in Education or in development, social/political sciences.
-Good English writing skills and research ability
-Ability to work in a team and under pressure and against deadlines
-Knowledge of INGO procedures
-Perfect knowledge of Arabic
-A valid Driving license
PERSONAL SKILLS
-Negotiation, and communication skills combined with high degree of patience and cultural sensitivity.
-Familiar with participatory approach
-Familiar with the Inclusive Education in Emergency would be an asset
-Work organization skills
-Highly organized and able to work respecting deadlines
-Strong sense of responsibility
