Job Announcement for LET Assistant
Project Background:
“Technical Assistance in Solid Waste Management in Palestine” is the techcnical cooperation project organized by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) for supporting capacity development of Ministry of Local Government (MoLG) and relevant authority in solid waste management policies, standards, guidelines and plans which will be applied across Joint Service Councils (JSCs) in the West Bank and all over Palestine.
In the Project, five JSCs (Tubas, Qalqiliya, Nablus, Northeast & Southeast Jerusalem, and Northwest & North Jerusalem) are targeted for capacity strengthening program to equalize the level of SWM services by JSCs in Palestine. It consists of trainings and supporting activities on the ground such as improvements on waste collection and transportation, accounting and financing, public awareness etc. These activities were supported by the local resourse persons named Local Expert Team (LET).
Objectives & Scope of Work:
The LET Assistant shall work on assisting the LET members to conduct the tasks specified in the project documents. So he/she will work closely with the management of the project and LET to conduct the needed surveys, analyze the prepared data, coordinate for the activities specified by the LET or the project management team. He/she shall report to the LET of the progress of the activities.
The key objectives/ tasks of the LET Assistant:
-Assist the LET in conducting the needed surveys/data collection.
-Assist the LET in the follow up with the targeted JSCs
-Assist the LET in preparing the produced reports as needed in the project documents
-Assist the LET in the coordination internally among each other
-Other tasks requested by the Project
-Level of Effort & Contract duration
The level of effort required under this assignment is 5 working days per week, 7 hours per day, over time and holiday work may be required. The expected duration of the assignment is 6 Calendar Months renewable as business needs.
Qualifications
The LET Assistant must have the following qualifications as minimum:
-At least Bachelors degree in environmental science or suitable equivalency;
-Two years of experience in the field;
-Good computer skills specially using excel, word and power point;
-High skills in data analysis;
-Knowledge about the work in the Local Government;
-Fluent in communication, reading and writing in English and Arabic
Schedule and Deliverables:
Monthly reports on the results of inspection / audit and data entered.
