SOS Children’s Villages International (SOS CVI) is a dynamic social development organization active in over 132 countries worldwide, working to meet the needs and protect the interests and rights of orphaned and vulnerable children. It operates through a federation network of National Associations (NAs) across the globe, working in the areas of child development and emergency response.

For its program in Gaza, SOS Children’s Villages is currently recruiting new staff for its interim care centre in Gaza City. The interim care centre will serve as a temporary shelter for children who have either lost parental care or are at risk of losing this care.;2

Position title: Caregivers
Location: Gaza City
Line manager: ERP Manager
Contract Duration: One year fixed term

Description of position

Caregiver
The goal of this position is ensuring quality care for all the children within the center. The interim care centre is operated on a 24/7 base. This requires several caregivers at the same time, depending on the number and the needs of the children.

The care givers attend to the following tasks:
1-Ensure that the children are being taken care of properly in terms of personal attention, hygiene and cleanliness.
2-Ensure that the children have proper clothes and shoes upon their admission and during their stay in the shelter.
3-Ensure that all proper medication of the children are administered and taken on a scheduled manner upon need.
4-Respect the premises of the centre during day and night and weekend shifts.
5-Light housekeeping tasks and meal preparation
6-Assist the children with bathing, making their beds and cleaning their rooms.
7-Ensure that all activities that are taking place during day, evening and weekend are child friendly related.
8-Report directly to the center director of all weekend and after hour activities, and / or challenges.
9-Ensure that the shelter is well maintained during the day, after working hours and during weekends.
10-Ensure that they abide by child protection code of conduct when caring from the children.
11-This position requires a person that holds the child welfare ethics and values
12-Concerning the night shift: staying awake in order to have proper surveillance over the children.

Qualifications and Experience:
-At least 1 years of experience in related field or similar activities.
-Effective communication skills
-Ability to work under pressure and to work within a team
-Ability to stay at night at the centre
-Ability to operate standard computer; Ms-office
-Understanding of Health & Safety issues at work.
