BACKGROUND:
The Supporting Civic Engagement Project and National Dialogue through Independent Palestinian Media Project works with local civil society organizations, journalists, and media; to establish strong, independent media that includes a diversity of voices, supports inclusive political engagement on key issues, and stronger fact-based journalism leading towards more transparency and government accountability. The activities are designed to build and strengthen ties between media and civil society and to encourage greater civic engagement and promote vibrant national dialogue, through the media, on key issues. The project is funded by the Middle East Partnership Initiative (MEPI).

-Media and civil society work together to address critical issues.
-Sustainable, independent media offer a diversity of views.
-Media holds public officials accountable.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPOSIBILITIES:
The project is seeking to fill the vacant position of a Media Advisor to be based in Ramallah Office who will assume the following major responsibilities:
-Follow-up with the journalists and media post-training to disseminate their learning, research, analysis, and statistics, and spread the knowledge to the public primarily through social media tools (Facebook, twitter, and using Info-graphics).
-To review the ideas, follow-up, and notes of conversations with the journalists from the training and meetings in the West Bank and Gaza, and spread the knowledge to Project partners with the aim to share the expertise and guide the process of initiatives’ implementation.
-Help the CSOs plan advocacy actions and provide the public with information needed to make decisions on the themes jointly selected.
-Keep documentation of the disseminated media items and knowledge shared for reporting purposes.
-Any other media duties, trainings, and write-ups, as assigned by the Project Director.
QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION:
Bachelor degree in Journalism, social sciences, development field or any other related fields.
EXPERIENCE:
-Understanding of the media environment and good relations with the media, stakeholders, and civil society organizations.
-Good understanding of modern media tools.
-Working knowledge of the English language is required.
-No less than 5 – 8 years of demonstrated experience leading the design and editing process using modern technology (news reporting, smart phones, infographics, and social media).
-Flexible with time, able to work independently, and demonstrated experience in proposing new approaches.
DURATION OF ASSIGNMENT:
July – December 2017 on 40% Level of Effort.
