Media and Advocacy Officer

Al-Ard for Agricultural Development is an independent Palestinian civil society organization dedicated to community-based agricultural development and the protection of and advocacy for Palestinian land rights and farmers. "Al-Ard" means "the land," and caring for the land is at the heart of all that we do. As Palestinians are indigenous to this land, we are its caretakers, and it is with that in mind that we at Al-Ard work towards indigenous sovereignty over land, food, and natural resources to strengthen the resilience of the community.

We are currently seeking an experienced and passionate Media and Advocacy Officer to join our team in Ramallah, Palestine. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing strategic advocacy and communication plans to promote Al-Ard's mission, initiatives, and campaigns.

Responsibilities:

1. Develop and implement strategic advocacy and communication plans to raise awareness and support for Al-Ard's mission, initiatives, and campaigns.
2. Manage relationships with media partners, journalists, and influencers to ensure positive and consistent media coverage.
3. Create engaging and informative content for press releases, social media, newsletters, and other communication channels.
4. Monitor and analyze media coverage, social media engagement, and other metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of communication strategies.
5. Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to create and disseminate compelling advocacy materials, including reports, fact sheets, op-eds, and videos.
6. Represent Al-Ard at public events, conferences, and meetings, delivering presentations and engaging with stakeholders to promote the organization's objectives.
7. Develop and maintain a crisis communication plan to effectively manage potential reputational risks.
8. Coordinate and support advocacy campaigns, including online and offline events, to mobilize supporters and engage key stakeholders.
9. Provide media training and support for Al-Ard staff and spokespersons to ensure consistent messaging.
10. Perform other related duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor’s degree in communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or related field.
2. Minimum 3 years of experience in advocacy, media relations, or communication, preferably in the agricultural or civil society sector.
3. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messages to diverse audiences.
4. Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing successful media and communication strategies.
5. Strong knowledge of the media landscape and experience in building relationships with journalists and influencers.
6. Proficient in social media management and content creation.
7. Ability to work effectively under pressure, manage multiple projects, and meet tight deadlines.
8. Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively within a team and with external partners.
9. Commitment to the mission and values of Al-Ard for Agricultural Development.
10. Fluency in Arabic and English is required.
