BACKGROUND
The USAID/WBG Communities Thrive project will focus on 55 municipalities located in the West Bank and will aim to improve municipal revenue streams and fiscal management of local government units (LGUs), increase the accountability and transparency of local governments, enhance delivery and management of the municipal services and the effectiveness of local governments’ operations, and improve the regulatory and policy framework for municipal governance.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
In close coordination and collaboration with the M&E and technical teams, the Media and Communications Specialist will manage development and production of all communications materials (printed, audio-visual, and social media) and provide media coordination.
S/he will report to the M&E and Communications Director. The position is based in the Ramallah office with frequent travel within the West Bank.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:
-Design, develop and implement CTP communications and media strategy with the M&E/Communications team and senior leadership.
-Develop and manage outreach and media coordination efforts, in line with the communications strategy, to enhance visibility of project activities and impact.
-Manage the design and production of a portfolio of communications materials (including photography, written briefs, social media, video, and audio) and support the development of periodic reports and publications.
-Coordinate and collect communications material from project sites, including photographs and case studies of beneficiaries, staff, partners and community members.
-Monitor and track project communication activities
-Deliver trainings on communications and outreach tools to other staff and or partner municipalities.
-Coordinate with technical team and local partners to ensure adherence to USAID branding regulations.
-Coordinate the project’s media and communications efforts with various local communications firms and organizations.
-Any other duties in line with this scope of work and assigned by the supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS: (MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS)
EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field, such as marketing, communications, public relations, journalism, international development, or related field
WORK EXPERIENCE:
A minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience in outreach and communications/marketing. Experience with international development and USAID projects a significant advantage.
SKILLS: Demonstrated creativity and innovation in the communications field. Proven ability to write and produce communications materials in Arabic and English. Demonstrated experience managing social media efforts and media coordination. Technical skills in at least one sub-component of communications, such as video production, photography, graphic design, etc. is a plus.
LANGUAGES:
Excellent English language skills (both written and spoken); fluency in Arabic.
GENERAL:
Highly organized individual able to pay close attention to detail.
Ability to work as a member of a team of professionals in a fast-paced and challenging environment. Willingness and ability to travel, including to remote and conflict-affected provinces.
