Background about project and position

Islamic Relief, in partnership with the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), is implementing a three-year Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) and Labour Market (LM) project in the Gaza Strip. The overall objective of the project “Enhancing Youth Employability in the Gaza Strip’’ (EYE) is to contribute to a unified TVET and LM system that provides youth with good quality labour market relevant skills and effective employment services as well as the local economy with the required skilled labour force.


The EYE project will implement TVET Awareness Campaign for improving TVET image mainly for school students specifically and Palestinian community based on the results and recommendations of the pre-survey “Key Stakeholders’ Attitudes towards TVET in the Gaza Strip”. Therefore, EYE project is looking for a potential qualified Media Campaign Assistant to support EYE project team in the implementation of the awareness campaign during year 2014-2015 to successfully achieve the media plan objectives.


Main Tasks & Responsibilities:
-Acting as contact person with media service providers and other media agencies during the time of campaign implementation;
-Follow up Facebook posts and sponsored adverts and monitor community engagement;
-Communicate with media plan execution stakeholders’ focal point in subjects related to each stakeholder intervention;
-Assisting in drafting campaigning letters, e-mails and related meeting minutes;
-Keep tracking to media plan schedule and make sure activities progress on time;
-Prepare monthly progress reports and final media report include all media activities implemented during the campaign;
-Working with the Coordinator to implement mass mobilization of the campaign; including telephoning radios and TVs, journalists, organizations and supporters to encourage them to take action and support the campaign;
-Helping to draft news releases articles under the direction of the Coordinator and in cooperation with the Communications Department to upload on the project website and Facebook page; and photos on Flicker
-Assisting with research to build an evidence if the campaign is reaching its goal of make target groups aware
-Monitoring and adding content to Facebook accounts, EYE project website & responding to queries and comments where appropriate;
-Monitoring media coverage relating to the project and campaign;

Candidates must possess the following competencies:
-University Degree in related field 
-Minimum 2 years’ experience in media, written and oral communication & coordination, preferably in INGOs
-Dedication and commitment to campaigning;
-Excellent command of written & spoken English language skills
-Commitment towards the aims of EYE project and TVET sector, preferably clear working knowledge of TVET and campaigning;
-Good IT skills including Word, Excel and the internet;
-Ability to work flexibly and as part of a team.
-Experience in communications and campaigning field
-Very good technical reporting skills.
