Media & Communication Officer
MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
1-Raising and maintaining high and positive profile of QADER through a wide range of opportunities, including press, advertising, and the internet.
2-Developing and implementing a strategy for engaging with press and media organizations.
3-Prepare program/project related documents/updates, including projects’ profiles, fact sheets, speeches, success stories, both in Arabic and English.
4-Prepare and submit reports to donors and other key stakeholders about QADER operations and projects, both in English and Arabic in a quality and timely manner.
5-Provide editorial support to colleagues, specifically for selected articles, reports, case studies, presentations, etc.
6-Prepares in coordination with other staff members media materials and communications of QADER, including, brochures, newsletters, articles, Project/program fact sheet, topography reports, and annual reports.
7-Prepare press releases and other public briefing notes in relation to key developments in the work of the QADER and its projects.
8-Contribute to planning of and arrangements for QADER events, in particular regarding the design and production of materials.
9-Prepare, write and disseminate press releases, media briefings and other relevant communications material.
10-Develop and maintain QADER’s media contacts database along with updated communication list for all current/potential contacts.
11-Strengthen QADER links with local NGOs, government institutions, local authorities, international organizations, and funding agencies.
12-Lead and coordinate efforts for preparing any ad hoc report requested by QADER or any of its stakeholders.
13-Lead in organization of communication/PR activities and social events and assist in fundraising and advocacy activities and other relevant activities requested by QADER’s management
14-Working closely with QADER key staff to co-ordinate media work with internal and online communications, publications and QADER’s events portfolio.
15-Manage and maintain QADER website and regularly updates its content, and maximizing the use and overall content of QADER website.
16-Write and post material for the relevant areas of QADER website and other online web-based communications as required, and ensure that information remains topical and up to date.
17-Lead the research, planning and implementation of the longer-term development of the QADER website, to ensure it continues to achieve its objectives.
18-Promote the design and implementation of an information/communication management strategy for QADER.
19-Promote a proactive communication system to support QADER to relate closely to its constituency, community, partners and donors.
20-Assist in the translation of key documents from Arabic to English and vice versa.
QUALIFICATIONS
-At least Bachelor degree in journalism, communications, public relations or a related field, Masters Degree is preferred.
-At least three years’ experience in media, public relations or communications, preferably with civil society organization.
-Experience in and demonstrated understanding of the field of social development and disability.
-Fluent written and spoken English and Arabic, Italian language is a plus.
-Proven ability to produce corporate communications materials.
-Knowledge of Joomla CMS (Content Management System) or similar.
-Additional technical skills are desirable, including knowledge of emerging media technologies and social media, proficiency in design and photo/video editing programs such as Adobe Photoshop, Adobe In Design, Final Cut Pro, etc.
