IREX is an international nonprofit organization providing thought leadership and innovative programs to promote positive lasting change globally. IREX enables local individuals and institutions to build key elements of a vibrant society: quality education and innovative youth development programming, independent media, and strong communities.
In the West Bank and Gaza, IREX is implementing the USAID funded Partnerships with Youth program.
The Partnership with Youth (PwY) Program will expand educational and leadership opportunities for youth age 14-29 throughout the West Bank by creating sustainable hubs for youth innovation and learning in different fields such as Media, ICT, soft skills, communication, languages, sports etc. The Partnerships with Youth program builds on and expands USAID-supported Youth Development Resource Centers (YDRCs) to create opportunities with and for youth - for active youth learning and innovation in the West Bank. The program will improve the organizational environment of three existing YDRCs, establish eight new YDRCs, and build a network of youth centers in rural areas. IREX and USAID will also build supportive partnerships so that youth have better access to educational and leadership opportunities that respond to their aspirations.
Summary of Position:
Under the supervision of the Grants Manager, the Media Specialist/Program Officer will oversee the PWY media strategy, design media training content, tools and manual and serve as trainer. The Senior Media and Partnership Specialist in coordination with Chief of Party, will develop and nurture national-level and local-level partnerships in media and other areas as well as serve as the YDRC sub-grant officer for one YDRC.
Media (approximately 35%):
-Designs and implements media programming strategy and activity plan; provides creative ideas and input to media programming.
-Designs/prepares/delivers media training
-Delivers media TOTs.
-Provides media technical support to YDRCs as requested by YDRC sub-grant officers.
-Oversees direct implementation of media activities in new districts.
-Continually identify and share ways for youth to become involved in promoting youth
Partnership (approximately 30%):
-In close coordination with Chief of Party, develops and nurtures national-level and local-level partnerships in media and other areas.
-Ensures that partnership cost-share documentation is prepared/submitted and properly shared/stored/logged
Grants 35%
-Serves as Grants Officer for one YDRC. (Approximately 25%)
-Maintain deep knowledge of YDRCs’ grants, workplan, activities, and deliverables
-Visiting the YDRC at least 3-4 times/month
-Managing all communications with YDRC Executive Director and staff, including: serving as primary PWY staff member for all communications; follow-up regarding financial and narrative reports review findings, determining when other staff need to communicate with YDRC staff/interns and facilitating that communication.
-Determining what technical assistance the YDRC needs and when based on workplan, activities, and YDRC assessments, and identifying/scheduling those resources for the YDRC given resource availability.
-Coordinates and documents all sub-grantee review processes and calendars.
Qualifications:
-At least BA degree in media, journalism, communications, or relevant field.
-At least three years of relevant work experience in media and training, communications, and/or journalism.
-Demonstrated technical skills in working with media equipment and editing software.
-Experience designing and implementing training for youth and/or adults strongly preferred.
-Must be a self-starter with the ability to take initiative and work under minimum supervision.
-Strong ability in Arabic and English.
