Mental Health Supervisor
Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF – Doctors Without Borders) is an international humanitarian aid organization that assists in more than 70 countries with populations in distress, victims of natural or manmade disasters, and victims of armed conflicts, without discrimination and irrespective of religion, creed or political affiliation. To support this work, we are looking for :
MENTAL HEALTH SUPERVISOR
Location: mainly based in Tulkarem but with the possibility of being asked to spend a few days of the week in Jenin on an exceptional basis
Contract type: 6 months fixed term period with the possibility to extend
Participate in the planning, supervision and coordination of mental health / pycho-social related services in the programme in accordance with MSF standards in order to provide the most appropriate mental health support for patients.
GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Participate in the planning, organization and coordination of Mental Health activities, in close collaboration with the Mental Health activity manager and other medical team members, in order to ensure an efficient and effective implementation of the resources needed while maintaining high levels of quality in Mental Health MSF programs and activities.
- Coordinates activities of counselling services with other relevant actors and liaises with the local counterparts (like MoH, WHO, ICRC and NGO) on mental health matters, including referral services.
- Supervise the daily mental health activities and patient support according to MSF protocols and standards in order to provide the most appropriate support for clients with psychosocial needs
- Liaise with the other MSF team members of the project.
- Supervise, in close coordination with the HR department, the associated processes (recruitment, training/induction, evaluation, potential detection, development and communication) of the staff under his/her responsibility in order to ensure both the sizing and the amount of knowledge required
- Oversee the administrative processes associated with psychosocial functioning.
- When needed, give psychological support to patients according to MSF protocols to improve mental health conditions of patients and enhance their functionality.
- Compile the data and statistic linked with MH activities and report to the MH activity manager
- Offer clinical counselling supervision to mental health counsellors in collaboration with the Mental Health Activity Manager.
- Ensure the patient’s related information is kept confidential
CONTEXT SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Creation and facilitation of training materials in accordance with MSF standards as well as follow up and summary of trainings once finalized – internally as well as externally-
- Organisation and coordinations as well as implementation of needed assessment of areas and/or organizations
- Provision of PFA and/or crisis intervention for affected communities
- Collaborate with PC assisst on security updates that impact MH activities and adjust them
- Collaborate with medical and admin team to support Ghazan Workers in receiving needed medication
- Give fedback on project’s strategy with regard to place of work

CANDIDATE PROFILE - SELECTION CRITERIA:
Desirable Master or Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Psychology or significant years of experience in related field
Experience
Psycho-social counselling experience of at least 2 years.
Previous trainer experience on MHPSS or related of at least 1 year.
Previous humanitarian experience with international NGOs is considered a plus
Languages
Other technical competencies
English and Arabic fluent
Knowledge of standardized assessment tools
Knowledge of facilitation of groups sessions and trainings
