International Medical Corps is working to relieve the suffering of those impacted by war, natural disaster and disease by delivering vital health care services that focus on training, helping devastated populations return to self-reliance. IMC has been working in Gaza since 2009 and is currently implementing a project to support health service provision in partnership with local NGOs.

Capacity: Full Time Contract

Duration: 8 months with the potential for extension depending on available funding

Location: Gaza City.

Job Summary

The MHPSS Officer will provide administrative support for the MHPSS Programme.

Scope of Work/Deliverables:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function with or without reasonable accommodation. The duties and responsibilities listed are representative of the nature and level of work assigned and are not necessarily all inclusive.

  1. Follow up on and support MHPSS programming, including strategy development and monitoring of multiple projects.
  2. Support the management the MHPSS team, support with team-building, performance reviews, and professional development of staff
  3. Closely work with local NGO and CBO partner(s) and relevant focal points for the implementation and monitoring of MHPSS projects
  4. Provide continual administrative guidance and support for MHPSS-related trainings
  5. Conduct routine project needs assessments and program reviews to ensure successful implementation and donor compliance
  6. Support the development and updating of MHPSS referral pathways with partner NGO(s) and external service providers to strengthen links to available MHPSS- and Protection-related services.
  7. In collaboration with local partners, engage community leaders, community-based organizations, and other service providers in supporting beneficiaries to access MHPSS services as well as ensuring their feedback for quality monitoring and accountability
  8. Support the development of MHPSS-related IEC materials
  9. Support monitoring and evaluation of MHPSS programming, and development of M&E tools and collection and analysis of program data
  10. Prepare MHPSS reporting on a regular basis, as the reporting focal point for the MHPSS team
  11. Work closely with support departments to support program administration and the logistical implementation of activities in program sites
  12. Coordinate regularly with other teams, including Medical and Protection, for integrated approach to activities and trainings
  13. Support the mainstreaming MHPSS within IMC across sectors, and with partners and service providers
  14. Coordinate with and support the MHPSS Working Group and actively participate in MHPSS coordination meetings for information sharing, collaboration with partners, referral mechanisms, and advocacy for best practices and IASC MHPSS guidelines.

Qualifications and Skills:

1.The qualified candidate will have a bachelor degree or equivalent, ideally in business administration or related sector, and/or have a MHPSS-related qualification, with experience in MHPSS programming and support

  1. Minimum of 3 years of professional experience supporting MHPSS or related projects in humanitarian settings
  2. Knowledgeable in and experience using IASC Guidelines on MHPSS in Emergencies
  3. Experience conducting M&E activities for MHPSS or similar programmers would be an asset
  4. Demonstrable experience in the assessment, design, and delivery of responses to pre-existing and emergency-induced MHPSS needs
  5. Strong administrative skills, report writing, data collection and management

      7.Fluent in Arabic and English, written and spoken.

  1. Ability to work within a team structure or independently, flexible, and can cope with stressful workload
  2. Honest, hardworking and self-motivated
  3. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work within different cultural environments
