JOB PURPOSE
To perform monitoring activities within a specific coverage area and provide reports to support the implementation of the WFP- Palestine assistance programs in effective and efficient manner.
ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT
These jobs are found primarily in WFP Field based Offices, and job holders typically report to Monitoring & Evaluation Officer or Monitoring & Evaluation Associate. The reporting lines may change depending on the size of the office.
At this level job holders are expected to take responsibility for completion of a range of processes and activities related to monitoring that require some interpretation of standard guidelines/practices. Job holders are able to recommend a course of action to staff at various levels.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (Monitoring)
- Conduct distribution monitoring for the food modality at the level of distribution points, including conducting beneficiary interviews during distributions. The frequency is based on the sample and monitoring requirements.
- Conduct post distribution monitoring visits at household beneficiaries’ level collecting through conducting semi-structured interviews.
- Conduct monitoring visits to participating shops based on the required sample and monitoring requirements.
- Conduct any other monitoring visits for any new initiative as required.
- Ensuring that all data is synchronized with WFP’s M&E database before the set deadline.
- Ad hoc M&E data collection requirements might be collected by MAs if and when needed.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (Photographing)
Act as a photographer to provide WFP with sufficient, diverse, and quality visual material (photographs and videography) for public information, advocacy and other visibility purposes.
- Deliver quality and high-resolution digital photographs and videos.
- Prepare WFP standard captions for each photograph.
Reporting line
- Monitoring Assistant will be working in the Jerusalem Office and will report directly to the M&E Associate in the CO.
- Monitoring Assistant will work directly with the Head of communication to understand the required photos and videos.
STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Completion of secondary school education. A post-secondary certificate in the related functional area is desirable.
Language: Fluency in both oral and written communication in the UN language in use at the duty station and in the duty station’s language, if different.

FUNCTIONAL CAPABILITIES

- Demonstrated interest and/or experience (up to 5 years) in monitoring, data collection, social work or any related area.
- Good interpersonal, networking and communication skills.

- Computer skills (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, social media, and others).
- Knowledge of photography techniques.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS
Fixed-term Appointment: an appointment for a continuous period of one year and shall have a specified expiration date and subject to a probationary period of one year, which may be extended to 18 months.
Annual Net Pay Salary: Fixed Term/ GS5 ILS 132097
Staff Assessment A staff assessment, comparable to national income tax, shall be applied to the gross salaries and such other payments as are computed on the basis of salary, The assessment shall be calculated at rates set forth in the FAO Administrative Manual.
Duty Station: East Jerusalem
Dependency allowances: applicable to children up to 18 years of age, or up to 21 years in full-time school attendance
United Nation Joint pension fund a deduction of 7.9% from the pensionable remuneration will be made from the net salary, the WFP will contribute of 15.8%
Medical Insurance: mandatory for staff member and can be extended to dependents in a cost sharing
Annual leave: 2.5 days a month and Sick leave: 2 days per month
Official Holiday: 10 days as officially established for each duty station
