National Program Officer

The Representative Office of Switzerland in the occupied Palestinian territory (oPt), for its Swiss Cooperation Office,  wishes to recruit a fulltime National Program Officer Humanitarian Action, based in its office in Ramallah. The recruitment will be facilitated through Excellence Hire.   

Under the supervision of the Head of Domain Humanitarian Action, the National Program Officer Humanitarian Action (NPO HA) will support Switzerland’s humanitarian action in the oPt.

The main tasks include:

• Project Cycle Management: Responsible for the identification, planning, monitoring, reporting and evaluation of humanitarian projects and contributions
• Context analysis and assessments: Responsible for the close monitoring and analysis of the evolution of the context and humanitarian situation in the oPt, humanitarian needs and gap analysis, regular reporting.
• Dialogue and representation: Responsible for institutional dialogue with the partners under his/her responsibility, support in the representation of Switzerland in relevant humanitarian platforms (UN, donors etc. )

Please note that the position requires regular visits to Jerusalem and field visits within the West Bank and the Gaza Strip (once applicable)

• A Master degree in social/political sciences, humanitarian/development assistance or related field
• Minimum 6 years of experience in the humanitarian sector, incl. hands-on field experience in the implementation of humanitarian programs (emergency, early recovery)
• Excellent knowledge in all steps of project cycle management both operationally and financially
• Very good analytical capacity, strategic and conceptual thinking; excellent writing and communication skills in English
• Committed, proactive and flexible personality open to work in a highly volatile environment
• Ready to do field missions within the West Bank, to Gaza (once applicable) and to regularly attend meetings in Jerusalem
