Nutrition Officer
For 3 months commencing upon signature of the project contract.
:The candidate will be responsible on the following objectives and task
:Coordination and communication
- Maintain regular communication with relevant stakeholders with external actors (local authorities, UN agencies, community leaders, other NGOs, volunteers, subcontractors, etc.).
- Participating in relevant coordination to ensure sharing of best practice within the wider humanitarian community.
- Inform Action Against Hunger Management about the positions of different actors in the field, they response capacities etc. to anticipate joint opportunities of joint response and to avoid duplication.
- Maintaining regular information flow to partners and stakeholders.
Programmes’ management
- Make sure that Targeted Supplementary Feeding Program (TSFP), Community-Based Management of Acute Malnutrition (CMAM) & Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF) programs are implemented according to Sphere standards.
- Support Action Against Hunger Gaza Team, the Nutrition Coordinator/ Manager in country analysis and emergency strategy definition.
- Prepare activity plans for each activity in coordination with management.
- Prepare supporting documents and the material needed for the distribution and produce field reports when possible.
- Support the selection of geographical areas/internally displaced person (IDP) centers and target groups.
- Conduct regular field visits to the project sites, ensure spot check of the activities conducted, and provide the needed technical support.
- Propose solutions and improvements relating to project activities and how to improve distributions.
- Conduct any Monitoring and Evaluation activity as required and document all activities led (pictures etc).
Technical support and supervision
- Supervise performance and accountability work to ensure programmes can demonstrate results and base future plans on evidence of positive outcomes at community level.
- Supervise and manage the Nutrition teams which may consist of (assistant, field workers, social workers, daily labour), structure may vary over time.
- Provide technical assistance and oversight in the areas of needs assessment, programme design, implementation, and monitoring Nutrition interventions.
- Lead nutrition screening and coordinate the integration of Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF)-E in identified health facilities, collect, and analyse data and build a response plan together with the coordinator.
- Contribute to the establishing a monitoring and evaluation system for the nutrition projects, in collaboration with the MEAL coordinator.

- Midwife/labour and delivery nurse or general nurse ideally. Other backgrounds to be considered: nutritionist, pharmacists, public health.
- Leadership in Community Management of Acute malnutrition (whether inpatient or outpatient) in emergency settings is a plus.
- Knowledge of program implementation.
- Knowledge on partnership building and management.
- Previous experience in Malnutrition screening (Middle upper arm circumference (MUAC) , Weight-for-Height Z-Score (WHZ) and edema measurement).
- Previous experience in counselling on pregnant and lactating women and infant feeding.
- Previous experience in emergencies, including large scale distribution, planning it, and executing it.
- Experience working in multidisciplinary teams with minimum 3 years of directly proven experience in NGO sector.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills, strong planning and observation skills.
- Fluency in reading, writing and speaking Arabic and English
- Very good knowledge in Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook
- Female candidates from Rafah area are preferred.
- Valuable prior experience in issues related to the promotion of gender equality or personal commitment to gender equality.
