The Opportunity – Office & Facilities Maintainer
Post location: Gaza Field Office - Deir al Balah - Subject to change depending on SC priorities
Contract Duration and Level of Effort: Until 31 Dec 2024
ROLE PURPOSE:
The Office and Facilities Custodian will provide comprehensive facilities management services including but not limited to facilities management of the SCI Guesthouse and Office premises in Deir Al Balah. The position holder is expected to pro-actively identifying potential facilities problems and propose solutions.
The position holder is also expected to perform other administrative related work such as office stationary and pantry supplies maintenance and office equipment maintenance.
SCOPE OF ROLE:
Reports to: Admin Officer
Staff reporting to this post: None.
Role Dimensions: oPt CO is a high complexity country, multi-member interest, with an annual budget of around $40+m, and 100+ staff. Currently the program is experiencing a growth in funding and complexity due to the war in Gaza.
KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:
Facilities Maintenance and Management
- Liaise with landlords and building management on all facilities matters.
- Assist in ensuring remises are fit for purpose, suitably equipped, tidy and professional appearance is maintained.
- Assist in ensuring full compliance with SC rules, regulations, policies, and strategies relative to the use and management of SC facilities.
- Conduct regular checking of facilities and schedules repairs, maintenance check and renovation from suppliers to include but not limited to general cleaning, checking, and replacing of electrical and plumbing fixtures, fumigation, and pest control etc. in coordination with Admin Officer.
- Maintain the power supply– including maintenance of solar panels and batteries.
- Maintain water supplies in the office and guesthouse including water tanks of neighbouring community as previously agreed with the landlord.
- As directed by the Administration team, support planning for office seating to ensure that all staff are suitably accommodated.
- Keeps a log for office equipment (e.g. photocopier, fax machine audio visual equipment, air-conditioning units, and kitchen appliances etc.) records maintenance, enhancements or repairs done.
- Provide support to the administration team in office lay out, moving of equipment, desks, chairs etc.
Other Administrative Support:
- Ensures office and pantry supplies, common medicine and first aid kit in the stockroom and forms are regularly replenished.
- Prepare forms to replenish supplies and submit to line manager approval.
- Accepts and keeps a record of request and issuance of office supplies.
- Assist in any related tasks as assigned by line manager

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE AND ATTRIBUTES
- Experience in managing a facilities function for a busy office.
- Knowledgeable on equipment and facilities fixtures and maintenance.
- Good interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate politely with staff and visitors.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work autonomously in a frequently stressful and challenging environment.
- Ability to resolve stressful situations.
- Ability to represent Save the Children in a neutral and impartial manner.
- Commitment to the aims and principles of Save the Children. In particular, a good understanding of the Save the Children mandate and child focus and an ability to ensure this continues to underpin all aspects of the job. Commitment to Save the Children child protection policy.
- Fluent in Arabic
