About the EJ-YMCA:
The East Jerusalem Young Men’s Christian Association (EJ-YMCA), is a Palestinian civil society organization, established in 1948, that is committed to empower young people and their communities living in the conflicted areas of East Jerusalem and the West Bank, to make a better life based on social justice and peace. The EJ-YMCA believes in the power of youth, and seeks to unlock their potential by caring for the physical, intellectual, and spiritual aspects of their personal development thus become agents of positive change in their societies.
The EJ-YMCA is deeply rooted in the Palestinian society and runs a variety of programs based on local priorities in areas of: health, employment, rehabilitation, advocacy, youth participation, and women empowerment.
Background:
The EJ-YMCA is seeking to hire an Organizational Development Manager, to aid the organization transform through the new strategy as set by the General Secretary (GS) for the years 2020 – 2024, in an attempt to develop the organization’s capacity to be effective and efficient in its mission and to sustain the organization’s survival. Although the post location is in East Jerusalem, the Organizational Development Manager is expected to travel to the different districts of the West Bank whenever deemed necessary to attend meetings or participate in field visits.

The main tasks and responsibilities include:
-Develop the organization’s development strategy with the GS and Senior Management Team, and liaise with external consultants;
-Oversee the implementation of the organization’s development strategy;
-Assist the GS in facilitating efficient and effective management of the organization;
-Act as liaison and advisor to the GS and facilitate implementation of appropriate change management initiatives associated with organizational transition activities across the organization;
-Lead in creating new departments as required for centralizing management of the EJ-YMCA;
-Manage and oversee the newly established departments once created along with the GS;
-Provide support to the GS in developing and administering the organization’s policies and procedures;
-Anticipate organizational risks and develop mitigation strategies;
-Any other tasks and responsibilities as requested by the GS.
Essential experiences and competencies:
-Bachelor degree in an appropriate field (business administration, development studies, etc…). Master degree is an advantage.
-At least 5 years of proven job experience in civil society, community development, etc.
-Highly organized, reliable attention to details, and ability to work independently when needed.
-Mature work practices, highly motivated, good leadership skills, and demonstrate sound judgment.
-Fluency in both English & Arabic languages, including both written and verbal communication skills.
-Excellent reporting skills in both English & Arabic, and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
-Integrity and strong identification with EJ-YMCA core values.
