OT officer

THE ORGANIZATION
Handicap International is an international NGO specialising in the field of disability and post-emergency intervention. HI has been present in the Palestinian Territories since 1996. The association has implemented several projects, including providing technical support to referral centres for people with disabilities. The association is present in the Gaza Strip and supports activities to meet the needs of PWDs & improve their daily life. These actions are performed in partnership with local Palestinian associations.
THE JOB
Under the supervision of the Project Manager, the OT officer based in Gaza, assist the project manager with technical aspects of the projects in Gaza
Her/his Main tasks will be to support:
Outreach rehabilitation teams:
In close collaboration with the Project Manager:
• Support the Project Manager to conduct needs assessment of the outreach system to identify gaps in service provision
• Follow-up and monitor the activities of the outreach teams/mobile teams
• Provide direct clinical supervision for the occupational therapists and physiotherapists in the outreach teams
• Assist in developing training packages and information to build the capacity of the outreach/ mobile teams
• Assist in developing strategies to ensure that outreach teams are promoting a holistic approach when working with families The partner Hagar – leasing system of assistive devices
• Support the occupational therapists working in Hagar to assess the assistive device needs of persons with injuries and disabilities
• Provide training on identification of appropriate assistive devices for occupational therapy/
physiotherapy staff working in the field
• Strengthen the Hagar referral system
THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE
Knowledge required
1. Bachelor Degree in Occupational Therapy
2. At least one years experience working as an Occupational Therapists
3. Fluent in English
4. Writing skills in English and Arabic
5. Computer skills (word, excel, PowerPoint)

10. Sensitive to the needs of vulnerable groups. You will be fluent in English (written and spoken), and Arabic.
A PLUS: previous experience with an international NGOs.
Initial contract will be a determined contract up to the 31st of May 2010.
